I was probably overdue a haircut before this and now I'm just gonna have to embrace the Cast Away aesthetic.

Me too :(

I feel like being in Australia has basically let me see 5 days into the future by seeing what’s going on in the UK, definitely going to get a haircut today before it’s too late

As of yesterday I’m no longer working, it’s a very tough time to be in hospitality indeed. I still have my job but for most likely the next 6 months I won’t be working and as far as I’m aware I only have 2 weeks of annual leave. The government announced stimulus packages to help keep apprentices employed but then just after announced the closure of hospitality sooooo as an apprentice chef I’m totally clueless right now as to whether they are going to give me at leave some sort of payment or if I’ve been kicked to the dirt.

I had my first haircut in months yesterday. Both me and the barber kept our masks on the entire time.

(before that, yes, it was a shaggy mess)

The power to fix this is literally in all of our hands so keep washing those hands & keep your distance :hand:

I'm sorry to hear people losing their jobs and not being covered by the government safety-net. Complain to your local MP. That's their job, even if they are at home. I've been unemployed for 2 years when I was young, it's not easy to say the least, but it is a temporary situation and right now you're safer at home anyway. Things will get better.

Sports Direct won't be getting my business ever.

I have the dilemma of carers, gardeners, cleaners which my parents pay for (I still work and have no time to do gardening etc). If my own family can't come round I'm reluctant for the others to keep coming, though gardeners at least stay out of the house. OTOH I don't want the others to lose their jobs and go out of business. Paying them but asking them not to come may have to be an option, though it's down to my dad at the end of the day...

And so the first multi-millionaire to decide that his desire to make money he doesn't need is more important than people's lives is Mike Ashley, owner of Sports Direst, I'll leave that typo in. The number of people surprised has yet to reach the dizzy heights of one.

Ashley also owns Evans Cycles. Bicycle shops are allowed to remain open but please bear in mind that other cycle shops are available.

Tim Martin says hi.

Shop was mental this morning. People who looked rich aged 50-60ish seemed the biggest liability. E.g. a couple i saw took a trolley each to get around the limit on buying rule. Sense of panic in the air & it stressed me out too. First time I've been able to get meat & bread for a week though.

Also I got there 15 min before it opened (big Sainsbury) & around 20 people already queued up at the door (luckily sparsely distributed). Look forward to this changing at least even if we must stay living under quarantine conditions otherwise.

I'm glad that you managed to get what you needed.

Have the supermarkets been able to keep up with stock since the new rules came in? I’m not planning to go until Friday and I won’t be going first thing, but this is my biggest concern.

As for haircuts, I had one 10 days ago so I’m not due yet but I’m wondering about just shaving it all off. I’m balding anyway but I think I’d look weird with no hair at all. On the other hand, growing the hair out would be equally weird when I don’t have full coverage.

Belgium has noted a decline in hopsitalisations for a 2nd time in a row.

I’m stranded in New Zealand. The foreign office was useless, they told everyone to come home way too late. Booked a flight and wasn’t allows to board as while I managed to gain exemption for the Australia travel ban to non-citizens, Dubai thought it would be a laugh to shut their airport early. I can’t describe to you the utter chaos on the other side of the world, luckily I accepted I was probably stuck here about 24 hours ago as everything changed so quickly over here. Consoled many Europeans in Christchurch airport today, both young and old, we are all effectively refugees now and lockdown starts in 24 hours time.

I’m with friends so we are renting an air bnb. Only way I’m getting home in the next few months is through a repatriation effort.

Ouch :( I hope you kept your distance when consoling others.

This maybe a stupid question but can you go out in the street outside your house and wash your car?

I'm not sure whether it is against the rules, but you might get some hostile reactions from your neighbours.

I wonder why you would wanna do that in these times anyway
