February 4, 20214 yr The Control album turns 35! Janet has acknowledged the milestone on her social media: View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram From the album cover right through every single track, it's a hugely influential and important album. Her first, of many, masterpieces!
February 7, 20214 yr There seems to be a download campaign to celebrate the anniversary. It has managed to get to #1 on the US pop iTunes album chart (~#20 on full iTunes chart).
February 7, 20214 yr There seems to be a download campaign to celebrate the anniversary. It has managed to get to #1 on the US pop iTunes album chart (~#20 on full iTunes chart). #16 now. Although it's sad that it just doesn't breeze into the #1 spot, but maybe a lot of people already own it on iTunes? Either way it just feels like her fanbase has scattered over the years - even during 20YO it felt like there was a solid fanbase at least. I think her not releasing as regularly has a lot to do with that though - it was 7 years between Discipline and Unbreakable and now it's been six years since that album. I also think Michael's past resurfacing affected her negatively.
February 11, 20214 yr Author I spent yesterday watching through a chunk of Janet's music videos, starting from the 'Control' era. That run of 'The Pleasure Principle' -> 'Miss You Much' -> 'Rhythm Nation'... wow! That choreography! I think 'Alright' is my favourite so far (I've got up to her first greatest hits album) and I realised that it must have inspired the routine between Oti and Bill Bailey's "couple's choice" dance on the last series of Strictly!
March 4, 20214 yr :o! Wow, this will be essential viewing if done right. She has one of the most fascinating careers in music.
March 4, 20214 yr IDK. I wonder if they'll even touch upon Leaving Neverland to be honest, or just tip-toe around it.
March 4, 20214 yr Will definitley have to watch it. I hope they get down to the nitty gritty and don't gloss over a number of subjects. "All For You" is still a bop.
March 4, 20214 yr Will definitley have to watch it. I hope they get down to the nitty gritty and don't gloss over a number of subjects. Reading the article it's executive produced by Randy, so I very much doubt it.

June 1, 20214 yr Finally! So bizarre that it was restricted to Canada and Japan for 10 years. Her online presence with music videos still requires a lot of work :(
June 1, 20214 yr Her online presence with music videos still requires a lot of work :( I agree, it's so weird though, isn't she on a big label who could easily sort this?
January 11, 20223 yr Ahead of her documentary, Janet has covered Allure magazine and it's a great photoshoot. This image in particular is stunning: View this post on Instagram  Very excited for the doc!
January 11, 20223 yr Author She also did a breakdown of some of her videos for Allure which was uploaded last month: UNh8c-yi7bI Fascinating watch! I could do with a follow up tbh.
