I don't think there'll ever be a more iconic girl group album and era like what we saw with 'Spice' during 1996/97

 

An internationally successful album from day one selling 19 million in just 1 year, five hit singles, the world's biggest selling album of 1997 and the best selling girl group album of all time.

 

The word 'iconic' doesn't justify how amazing this period was in pop music and in the Spice Girls career.

Me too! I guess getting to see them perform most of the album on tour last year is the next best thing :wub: one of the best girl-group albums ever. I feel like it's an unpopular opinion to prefer it to 'Spiceworld' but that is the case for me! Both are absolutely brilliant and all-time favourites though, of course.

I think they both have different flavours, Spice is a bit less pop and has an rnb flavour throughout it (despite having the poppier tracks ironically, nothing else they did is as sickly pop as Mama :lol: ) while Spiceworld is has an overall more pop flavour to it.

Spice definitely has a more raw, edge to it. Most of the tracks are sexual or have sexual undertones. Mama sticks out like a sore thumb on Spice. Mama would fit better on Spiceworld.

 

One of my favorite lyrics on Spice is "So climb aboard my journey deep inside. Better late than dead on time." Obviously the girls are talking about a man not "erupting" too early while having sex. So dirty, I love it.

Likely Stories AKA C U Next Tuesday has been registered on ASCAP. Could we actually be getting Feed Your Love and Likely Stories next year? I really hope we do. It would be nice to get 2 "new" songs.

A dream to have a 25th anniversary reissue with unreleased tracks and with the release contributing to the original sales which are over 3m 😊

It would be sad if they didn't take advantage of its 25th anniversary.

 

Oasis' (What's the Story) Morning Glory got a nice 25th anniversary push with a new remastered LP and returned to the Top 3.

 

Would be great if the girls could come together and promote a similar release for Spice. I think it has the same iconic appeal as Morning Glory.

My favourite song from the album is 2 Become 1, its a really nice song i think. Wannabe is a little bit shouty for me.

Thats really cool surely Virgin could re release it this November with bonuses for the 25th anniversary.

 

To finally hear Feed Your Love and C U Next Tuesday would be such a treat. Fingers crossed.

It's sales are just under 7.5m by like 1k but it also has over 500k streaming equivalent sales in the US so it's total is now over 8m. Just shows how easily it is to wrack up sales these days through streaming.

 

The GH has over 600k streaming sales in the US too.
