Forever was the only Spice Girls album I bought, whereas for most it was the only Spice Girls album they didn't buy!!

  • Bopping to THIS BOP today

  • I find that Let Love Lead The Way could have been up there with 2 Become 1 and Goodbye if the lyrics weren't so sacarine... The melodies and production are stunning, but the lyrics could have been tak

Also firmly in the Get Down With Me & Wasting My Time camp. The strongest tracks alongside Holler, IYWHSF & Tell Me Why.

We must unite and rise up against the naysayers :cheer: Make them KNOW that those songs are strong!

3ven thr title, Get Down With Mer, is generic!! Srrving as much taste as a stale one week old bread roll.

Wasting My Time is what we all said to the Spices when they msde us listen to that ... song :(

And the other one ... a ballad with a really bad rap breakdown... Man alive!!!

If we are to believe the girls, Wannabe was done in 15mins so that is definitely not a barometer of quality :teresa:

Lay off Get down with me peeps, finally me and Mr X are united in agreement again! GDWM should have been a single it's ace.

(Must admit I find both TMY and WMT fine as album tracks but nothing more)

I've been reading bits of this thread on and off all week and found the timeline really interesting regarding the recordings in late 1998 and all the events of 1999/2000 and it's been fascinating reading the stories and facts of the era and people's opinions.

Although there was so much solo activity in 1999 I still wish there'd be another album from them in the 90s and November 1999 would have been perfect.

This is my ideal timeline

October 1999 - First single from the album, preferably 'Right Back At Ya'

November 1999 - Album release

December 1999/January 2000 - UK tour to support the album

February 2000 - Holler release

March - BRITs

Such a shame the songs did not match the quality of Holler and Let Love lead the ways. A lot of the songs sounded so cheap!
Get down with me is vile! Like Posh's hair during that era!

GOSH imagine not enjoying songs like Tell Me Why, Wasting My Time, Oxygen, If You Wanna Have Some Fun and Get Down With Me... I'm sorry but that is just not an experience I have ever had nor do I ever wish to have...

The hatred for ‘Forever’ :drama:

I actually love it and still listen to it now, it was a disappointing time commercially as a Spice fan versus what we were accustomed too but I find it a lot more palatable to listen to now versus the (iconic) first albums.

Forever gets a hard time because it wasn't the success the first two were. Also the departure of the sound did not help. It's a strong album, just not as strong as the first two.
Forever was perfect vocally and production wise but It was not camp/funny and too american.

Let's stream it girlies :cheer: :music: :funky:
