Over the decade there have been many fantastic pop albums bursting with potential smashes - only for some of them to never get their day in the sun. :drama: Now is their time. :teresa:

1. Rihanna - Breakin' Dishes (Good Girl Gone Bad, 2007)

Should have... replaced Hate That I Love You as third single.

2. Christina Aguilera - Infatuation (Stripped, 2002)

Should have... been released after Fighter - in time for summer.

3. Jennifer Lopez - Step Into My World (Rebirth, 2005)

Should have... replaced Hold You Down as second single.

4. Kelis - Keep It Down (Tasty, 2003)

Should have... bridged the massive gap between Trick Me and Millionaire.

5. Avril Lavigne - Fall to Pieces (Under My Skin, 2004)

Should have... replaced He Wasn't as the fourth worldwide single.

6. Leona Lewis - Take A Bow (Spirit, 2007)

Should have... bridged the massive gap between Better In Time and Forgive Me.

7. Destiny's Child - Fancy (Survivor, 2001)

Should have... been released after Emotion.

8. Katy Perry - I'm Still Breathing (One Of The Boys, 2008)

Should have... been released as the fifth single (just for a stunning video).

9. Kelly Clarkson - Long Shot (All I Ever Wanted, 2009)

Should have... been released as the second single instead of I Do Not Hook Up.

10. Kelly Clarkson - Cry (All I Ever Wanted, 2009)

Should have... been released as the third single instead of Already Gone - and avoid the Halo comparisons.

Have I forgotten any obvious examples? Please share your favourite singles-that-never-were of the 00's. :sarah:

Fancy is a great call! Definitely deserve to be a single

I fully agree about Cry being released instead of Already Gone and so does Kelly Clarkson! Supposedly Ryan Tedder made both songs without either party knowing but ultimately Halo was released first then when Clarkson tried to prevent it being released as a single because she saw the similarities herself she was shut up by the label :/

"Hot Fudge" really should have been a single from Robbie Williams' Escapology. He didn't release many upbeat singles from that album ("Something Beautiful" aside), so would have been a welcome change of pace.

Yeah I think Cry would have been a bigger hit than Already Gone if it got released. I don't know why AG suffered so much, especially in the UK, considering Kelly had a #1 single earlier that year and Beyonce had a hit with Halo a few months before... Maybe the comparisons hurt the songs airplay or maybe IDNHU's underperformance damaged its chances?

Okay if we are gonna talk Britney :kink:

Brave New Girl was surely screaming out to be a hit after Everytime. :(

1. Lady Gaga ft. Flo. Rida - Starstruck

2. Lady Gaga - Monster

3. Lady Gaga - Dance In The Dark

4. Rihanna - That La La La

5. Rihanna - Kisses Don't Lie

6. Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad

7. Rihanna ft. Will.I.Am - Photographs

8. Rihanna - Cold Case Love

9. Destiny's Child - So Good

10. The Saturdays - Lose Control

11. The Saturdays - One Shot

...so many hidden gems!

5. Rihanna - Kisses Don't Lie

7. Rihanna ft. Will.I.Am - Photographs

Yes to these! Kisses Don't Lie should have definitely been given a push instead of We Ride (which is a bit of a nonevent). Photographs should have been pushed instead of Hard after Te Amo (I think Hard was pushed after Te Amo - I can't remember ).

Another one I thought of is Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful Of Sunshine. It was released in the US and Canada (and then select European markets three years later lol) but never given a push in the UK which was a missed opportunity!

This is always one of the first things that springs to mind for me, my favourite from L.A.M.B.

Britney:

Kylie:

Gwen:

Jennifer:

Step Into My World definitely +

Ciara: + Anastacia:

Sugababes:

Arctic Monkeys:

Green Day:

David Guetta:

I think Hard was the 2nd single and pushed more so in the US which placed a top 10, but seemed to suffer everywhere else. It didn't even go top 40 here, I think a dual release of Photographs and Hard would've been a cool idea as pop radio and then R&B radio stations could've both been satisfied.

LOVE Kisses Don't Lie, can't believe it was never pushed after Unfaithful. I swear to god, yes I agree, it would've done a lot better than We Ride and seems a fan-favourite all these years later.

I think (not 100% sure) both Hard and Rude Boy were pushed in the US at the same time but to different formats (Urban and Pop) - like Single Ladies and If I Were A Boy a year before - but then Rihanna released Hard in the UK later on as the 4th(?) single. I think it re-entered the chart but never re-peaked. It was 10 years ago so I'm not totally sure.

Some great suggestions Nick and dandy! The Gwen ones. *.* Especially Danger Zone which I haven't heard until now. :drama:

Bubblepop Electric definitely! And from the same album, I raise you

12. Leona Lewis - Outta My Head (Echo, 2009)

Should have... replaced I Got You as the second single.

13. Florence + The Machine - Girl With One Eye (Lungs, 2009)

Should have... been released as the fourth single.

14. Amy Winehouse - Wake Up Alone (Back to Black, 2006)

15. Shakira - Rules (Laundry Service, 2002)

Should have... been the album's third worldwide single.

I can't believe I forgot this one. One of Shakira's best ever songs!

Instead of 'Wake Me Up':

(also 'Watch Me Go' in between 'See The Day' and 'Whole Lotta History' would've been fab)

Rachel Stevens' second album single releases were all messed up.

Should have had 'So Good' as a lead single, followed by the wonderful:

'I Said Never Again' as 3rd single and 'Negotiate With Love' to close the era. -_-

505 from the Arctics is a good shout - came straight to my mind when I saw this topic.
