April 26, 20205 yr Thanks for hosting! Shocked in a good way at my placing thought I’d be mid tier at best. What did I say was the non chart hit! I think I guessed at something what charted highly looking back.
April 26, 20205 yr Author Thanks for hosting! Shocked in a good way at my placing thought I’d be mid tier at best. What did I say was the non chart hit! I think I guessed at something what charted highly looking back. You put the Childish Gambino track (which was right). ~ I'm glad everyone enjoyed it
April 26, 20205 yr Thanks for hosting Lewis, I'm happy with my mid-table finish for this, considering there were 10 I didn't get :)
April 27, 20205 yr With the amount of these I should've recognized but didn't, I'll gladly take 14th as I expected to finish lower! Thanks Lewis for hosting and congrats Coi for winning :D
April 27, 20205 yr 'Heater' and 'Lollipop' in the first 3 were a great start to this B-) Not surprised I didn't remotely recognise 'Let Me Down' as I preferred the Shy FX remix and stuck with that one, so I only heard the original... twice. Amused that I couldn't get a literal #1 hit from only 3.5 years ago though. In 'retrospect' I think the 'That's My Goal' sample sounds even more like Blessid Union Of Souls' 'I Believe' than 'Stay Another Day'. Surprisingly only got 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' at the last moment, I guess it's less clear stripped of its vocals. I've probably seen the Goldie Lookin Chain song on the charts at some point but I've never heard it. I thought 'Butterflies' was some Ariana album track but couldn't find it... that explains why  Bonus Points: Alongside the 8 people who realised it was Childish Gambino, Dan.G*, Jade & Breraldine correctly guessed this was the track that didn't chart.I got it too! But I think you counted me correctly in the points. Thanks for reminding me of the 'What's Luv?' twitter video :') 29. Bob Sinclar ft Gary Pine - Love Generation This was a #1 hit all across Europe but unfairly missed the top 10 here. It's an unlucky case too as its 2-track CD single was ineligible for being over 10 minutes long (having the 2:58 radio edit and 8:44 club mix). I don't know if it would've made the top 10 if not for that rule, but it was #9-#10 on the midweeks in its debut week, presumably(?) including those sales, but ended up at #15. (Coincidentally that was the same week as the notorious 'Electric' by Lisa Scott-Lee.) Discogs has a 2nd UK CD single of it listed (along with the CD maxi which I presume didn't break the rules) with the club mix shaved to 6:32, presumably so they could scrape by the rules. (I know this just because I happened to come across it like 5 years ago and still remember it) Amusingly, I counted and 11/30 of the songs were by UK artists (and all but one of those not hits outside of the UK), and all 9 that I missed were among those 11 :P I think those 11 were much less guessed on average though so it's not just me. Thanks for this! Really enjoy your song selections.
April 27, 20205 yr Author What did I put for the non-charting track? I swear I put Childish Gambino :/ You did. Everyone who identified the song also said it was the non-charting one. :) It's an unlucky case too as its 2-track CD single was ineligible for being over 10 minutes long (having the 2:58 radio edit and 8:44 club mix). I don't know if it would've made the top 10 if not for that rule, but it was #9-#10 on the midweeks in its debut week, presumably(?) including those sales, but ended up at #15. Thanks for this! Really enjoy your song selections. I never knew that about Love Generation. It makes it even more annoying that it couldn't reach the top 10. :( That's also really interesting fact regarding how many songs were UK based. Whoops at all the ones you missed being among those 11
April 27, 20205 yr I mean... I wasn't last :kink: I am quite annoyed at I Like The way although I didn't know the title of the song but very familiar with the song itself. Also me remembering For What It's Worth from it's one week in the Top 40 but completely forgetting Shout Out To My Ex is quite ironic  Love Generation and The Bad Touch are others I should have got. I often cite Butterflies as being the single most forgettable Afro-vibes song of its era so not annoyed at that, and actually very glad I've pushed I Love It that far out of my memory! Thanks for another great round Lewis!
April 27, 20205 yr Great quiz Lewis, just finished reading through. Did about as well as I was expecting really & no facepalm moments. Congrats to coi for another NMTBJ victory.
