Perhaps unsurprisingly it’s the very first all star single that is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest. It was the one to start the trend that continues even in 2020 without Live Lounge Allstars on the verge of a #1 single this week.

Perfect Day by a mile. So classy, not really gimmicky and one that I’d have bought regardless of whether it was a charity single or not.

I’m surprised people rate Band Aid higher as it’s always been a bit tacky.

I weirdly love Ferry Aid. Kate Bush singing the final 'Mother Mary' line is a moment. Also Mel and Kim effectively knocked themselves off number one as Let it Be replaced Respectable (TUNE!).
Voted for the original 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' and 'Perfect Day' - both are brilliant, particularly the latter with its diverse line-up

Oh yes,Kate Bush's part of that song is up there with the best cameos on any of the songs here that I know.

Time to add another to this growing list;

If someone has time and wants a challenge, can they work out who the most featured artist is for an all-star single? My money would be on Robbie, Kylie or even Paloma perhaps.

Or even compile a Top 10 of the artists by number of charity features. I don't have the time but hopefully someone will step up to the challenge, it would be quite interesting to know!

With Midge Ure confirming there are no plans to revamp Band Aid for it’s 40th anniversary, is the time for large multi-artist charity singles over? We have not seen one since 2020 at the start of the pandemic, and thanks to some promotion, it reached #1.

Do you want to see more singles like this with big names to fit the bill?

Perfect Day being my favourite here. I hope one day they figure something out to get it on streaming/available to download.

I agree, it is one of the few I genuinely love, and from my first owned Now album Now 39.

It wasn't much later, but the most recent one to make the charts was the BBC Radio 2 Allstars with 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' at #7.

Unpopular opinion: We Are The World (1985 and 2010) are fab.

Do They Know It's Christmas (1984)

Do They Know It's Christmas (2004)

Just Stand Up (2008)

God Only Knows (2014)
