Remember Sydney, it’s about picking the best song out of the ones available. Those are the songs available to pick from, so you have to judge what most people would vote for!

I think Rudebox could stand a good chance, not sure how people judge Freedom! I think the only viable Take That choice is I’d Wait for Life

Me yesterday:

To be honest, I can only think of one plausible Robbie/Take That song I know that might make my vote (unless someone drunkenly submits 'Bodies'... or 'Rudebox'), but maybe I'll be surprised.
So just dropping in to say I would support 'Rudebox'!

I knew of the song's existence and reception but had never heard it until 2018, when I was listening through a slab of songs I didn't know from Now CD tracklists for a game in the Lounge, and it certainly stood out (in a good way)! Whereas all his other songs I didn't already know that I listened to for that passed right through me. Maybe a couple other people would have the same discovery here?

Remember Sydney, you're choosing the best song possible to get you through to the next round. We'll be voting for our FAVOURITES still, despite the name of the round being "worst single". It's kind of a "best of the worst".
Omg just giving Rudebox a listen as I've never heard it before.... 'dance like you've won at the Special Olympics' is a very choice phrase :/ :/

Funnily the radio edit on his greatest hits on Spotify blanks out 'special', making it sound more like they're censoring 'f***ing Olympics'

So it's the best song to get through to the next round, not necessarily the worst sing ever

Gosh !! , I do love Rudebox, would hate to go out on that song, I feel I was being disloyal to the Robster

Laua will be about later ( night Owl  ) , I will see what she says

I know some of the TT songs but not confident enough to make a choice ....

:music:

I’m not too familiar with the Take That songs aside from I’d Wait for Life (which is probably too dreary to be chosen) but I’d stay away from the Mark Owen solo singles (despite me not knowing them!). I’ve had a very brief listen to the two other Take That ones but can’t see people being familiar with them or them striking a cord with anyone.

Rudebox is definitely the most marmite song there and it won’t be the highest voted song of the round but it might stand out enough and have its vocal supporters to attract enough voters to get through, particularly with it being a single elimination. Freedom is obviously recognisable too, and could be a safer choice but I’m not sure how people would feel with it being a cover. Lazy Days is more Robbie by numbers but would it attract enough supporters to be in the top half of their votes? Maybe, I’m not sure! I’d avoid South of the Border.

I can’t see one! There’s a rank from 2006 (!) but I couldn’t see the results. There’s the Least Favourite, not sure if that could count in the circumstances? http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=192684

Bottom 3:

=31. Freedom

=31. Rudebox

33. Lazy Days

34. South Of The Border

This is the Take That results from 2014

46. Take That - I’d Wait For Life 5.714

47. Take That - Promises 5.571

48. Mark Owen – Makin’ Out 5.571

49. Take That - Once You’ve Tasted Love 5.428

50. Mark Owen – Believe In The Boogie 4.428

& we can only pick a song from this list, is that correct :)

I think we should pick Rudebox Tess.

I love that song but "anecdotally" if you asked most people what they thought his worse song was - everyone would say Rudebox.

"Up your jacksy - split your kecks"

Yeah just the one song.

You're voting for the "best of the worst". People will be voting for their favourites off the list, not their least favourites/the worst!

I always liked Lazy Days & would not considered it bottom list , the video they did for that song was fab but the sing was written by Guy when he was in the band called the Lemon Trees so it's not a song I would consider

Rudebox does indeed seem the best option , it's definitely worth a listen , a real grower , you either love it or hate it

Decision made, it's RUDEBOX

I have never managed the smallest of liking for Rudebox.

It does hold love or hate features in its appeal but remains one of his worst releases.

Here's the next round

ROUND 5 • WORST SINGLE

Hello as I make my return to hosting in AF Idol and WELCOME to ROUND 5, my personal favourite Round

HOW TO PLAY

• Just post your TOP 9 songs, in this thread. It is to be NO MORE or NO LESS than 9. You can rank them anyway that you like, but anything under / over NINE and your votes will be void, unless it is edited and corrected to the correct amount by the deadline.

• It doesn't have to be in order of favourite. Every song is a point.

PLEASE listen to any songs you don't already know. The Spotify playlist is there for a reason, or you can use alternative services like Apple Music or YouTube. There's no excuse for not filling in the gaps in your knowledge. Please also listen & re-discover all these classics.

• Remember you are still voting for your FAVOURITES of these songs - not what you think are the worst!

• The DEADLINE is FRIDAY, 22nd MAY 2020 at 17:59 (BST)

• This round will be a SINGLE ELIMINATION
