1st place Madison Avenue-Don’t Call Me Baby [ 55.00%] (22 votes out of 40)

Surprised to see this win given it was close to going out in earlier rounds but it’s a choon nonetheless. Don’t Call Me Baby was originally a modest top 30 hit for Madison Avenue in November 1999. It was reactivated in May 2000 hitting the top spot in the process.

2nd place Sugababes-Round Round [45.00%] (18 votes out of 22)

You can’t win them all and Sugababes fall second. Round Round was their second no.1 hit back in August 2002.

3rd place Nelly Furtado-I’m Like A Bird [42.86%] (12 votes out of 28)

4th place Boogie Pimps-Somebody To Love [43.33%] (13 votes out of 30)

5th place Pussycat Dolls Feat will.i.am-Beep [47.37%] (18 votes out of 38)

6th place Cascara-Evacuate The Dancefloor [34.38%] (11 votes out of 32)

7th place The Hoosiers-Worried About Ray [33.33%] (9 votes out of 27)

8th place will.i.am Feat Cheryl Cole-Heartbreaker [44.12%] (15 votes out of 34)

9th place Oasis-Lyla [29.03%] (9 votes out of 32)

10th place Westlife-Mandy [57.14%] (20 votes out of 35)

Very surprising result, thought it'd be an easy win for Round Round!

I do like a shock result but that was definitely the weakest of the top 3. Sugababes have had their time tbf.

I had no idea Don't Call me Baby was a 1999 flop before it was a #1!

Ultimate Survivor 3.0

1st place Robyn With Kleerup-With Every Heartbeat [64.71%] (22 votes out of 35)

Robyn victorious again! A clear Buzzjack fave, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was preferred to the oth Ultimate Survivor winners.

2nd place P!nk-Who Knew [35.29%] (12 votes out of 35)

And in a distant second we have P!nk. Great song but not great enough.

1st place XTM & DJ Chucky Pts Annia-Fly On The Wings Of Love [70.83%] (17 out of 24 votes)

And our winner is XTM! Cover of the winning Danish Eurovision entry from 2000, this danced up version of Fly On The Wings Of Love didn’t have a single high selling week like many hits in 2003 but instead it sold very consistently between June and August that year spending almost 3 months hovering between numbers 8 and 12. It really was very unusual at the time but it’s a track that takes me back to being 14 and a very hot Summer.

2nd place McFly-Five Colours In Her Hair [29.17%] (7 votes out of 24)

McFly finish in second. Five Colours In Her Hair was their debut hit in April 2004 and was their only chart topper to spend 2 weeks at the top spot. It fell to No.6 in its third weeks which did set the trend for later singles.

3rd place Lily Allen-Not Fair [42.31%] (11 out of 26 votes)

4th place Alien Ant Farm-Smooth Criminal [38.71%] (12 votes out of 31)

5th place Eminem-Lose Yourself [25.00%] (8 votes out of 32)

6th place Britney Spears-Born To Make You Happy [27.03%] (10 votes out of 37)

7th place Usher Feat Young Jeezy-Love In This Club [46.67%] (14 votes out of 30)

8th place Black Eyed Peas-My Humps [35.29%] (12 votes out of 34)

9th place Ne Yo-So Sick [30.00%] (9 votes ou5 of 30)

10th place Rihanna-Shut Up And Drive [21.62%] (8 votes out of 37)

Ah I missed that final vote but I agree with Fly On The Wings Of Love winning - it’s a tune! McFly 2nd is a good result too.
Is this the first time a Eurovision song has won? (Technically)
Is this the first time a Eurovision song has won? (Technically)

I think it’s the first time a Eurovision song has appeared! They weren’t too popular back in the 2000s! The highest UK entry in a 2000s End Of Year chart was Teenage Life by Daz Sampson that finished 147th in 2006. Then Come Back by Jessica Garlick which was 180th in 2002 and Flying The Flag by Scooch 185th in 2007. Not sure about international entries/winners or covers.

1st place The Darkness-I Believe In A Thing Called Love [52.63%] (20 votes out of 38)

So yeah I swapped my vote for a winner but I love both songs and if I’d been able to close last night like I wanted to, this was in the lead.

Following the release of their debut album, The Darkness took I Believe In A Thing Called Love to no.2 in September 2003. A retro feel rock song, it was refreshing at the time and I had hoped it would be no.1 for my 15th birthday but it was not to be thanks to BEPs. They saw out the era well with Brit Award wins but the hype didn’t last and they were all but forgotten quite quickly.

2nd place The Corrs-Breathless [47.37%] (18 votes out of 38)

That leaves The Corrs in second. They exploded into the mainstream in 1998 with their legendary Talk On Corners album and Breathless was the first single from the follow up (unless you count Radio but that was the Unplugged version that charted) and it hit no.1 in July 2000. In Blue was a much more mainstream and poppier album and not my favourite by them. But Breathless is an amazing song.

3rd place Britney Spears-Womanizer [63.33%] (19 votes out of 30)

4th place Kelis-Trick Me [39.29%] (11 votes out of 28)

5th place Justin Timberlake-Like I Love You [48.28%] (14 votes out of 29)

6th place Rihanna-Pon De Replay [41.38%] (12 votes out of 29)

7th place Kid Cudi Vs Crookers-Day N Nite [37.50%] (9 votes out of 24)

8th place Christina Aguilera-Ain’t No Other Man [34.62%] (9 votes out of 26)

9th place Fergie Feat Ludacris-Glamorous [33.33%] (11 votes out of 33)

10th place OPM-Heaven Is A Halfpipe [27.78%] (10 votes out of 36)

A good winner but I do prefer 'Love Is Only A Feeling', the Christmas one and even 'Is It Just Me' personally. Still a cracking tune though.

'Breathless' <3 a worthy runner up even if it was my preference of the two.

After receiving so few votes up to the final, I am shocked that the Corrs didn’t win that one. Such a perfect pop song
