The semi-final sees the winners of Popstars - the show which inspired the Idol and X Factor franchises - crash out in 3rd place with a massive share of the vote! Hear'Say consisted of two guys and three girls - one later becoming Michelle Connor in Corrie and another being Myleene "white bikini" Klass. The gender ratio was very Steps-inspired and the group looked set for big success. 'Pure and Simple' sold over 549,000 copies in its first week to land at the top - where it spent 3 weeks in total before being replaced by Emma Bunton. Hear'Say would go on to have one more #1 and another two top 10 hits before permanently disbanding. It's a shame they never took part in The Big Reunion. That could have been some good drama/entertainment. :lol:

Yep, saw this top 2 coming before the round even opened!

 

I do like Umbrella (even if it cursed us with rain all summer) but this is an easy win for Pure Shores, one of the best girl group songs ever :wub:

This is quite an impossible choice as both are among my favourite artists of all time. I went for Pure Shores in the end.

Both are gold standard pop songs but I went with 'Umbrella'. I remember absolutely stanning the song and it really did tranform Rihanna from niche R&B act to a household name. Incredible song! But 'Pure Shores' is beautiful and definitely one of the best girl-group songs of all time!
