It was a promising start for us but as soon as the first goal went in I thought we had no chance of coming back into the game, it definitely looked like United would get their second sooner or later. Thankfully Saints got over that and improved again in the second half, great to see Vestergaard get his first goal for the club as well. Even after that I thought it would end 2-1 though, it's rare for us to not throw it away.

Really? We've kept one clean in about 50 matches lol (exaggeration but you get the point). Always felt you'd get a goal (surprised that's Vestergaard's first one!) it would just be whether we could grab a second. I know James is still very raw but I don't get excited about anyone else on the ball as much as do with him. Rash looked pretty toothless today, Pogba couldn't be bothered.

Definitely. At the start of the game I would have expected us to get a goal at some point (usually against big clubs we'd score early on and then lose) but we couldn't even get a shot on target in the first half. And throughout the entire time after the first goal I was pretty sure United would get a second, I'm amazed they didn't.

Yeah it's early days but Daniel James really is looking like a great signing for you!

Vestegaard is a quality CB, been a big hole in the Gladbach defense since he was allowed to leave.

James is looking more and more like a bargain and a real star of the future. He’s already equalled Sanchez’s goal tally for united!!

Same story as the past three games really. We show patches of progress and then it’s undone with patches of pure dross.

Sheffield United getting a draw at Stamford Bridge is not something I was expecting today!

Wilder is a great manager - if they stay up this season it'll be interesting to see where they go!

James was a great player last year too - he's showing again why the leagues below the Premiership are actually full of talent too but until they play in the Premiership everyone thinks they are not good enough or just have never heard of them.

I have been critical of James, but I was impressed with him against Southampton. He is very raw. I have seen so many players like him over the years though, he wants to do the same thing time and time again which is beat a man for pace and cut on to his right foot. I think with good coaching he can become a really good player, but I've seen countless players also get found out after a purple patch when teams work out how to stop a player.

Every week I watch Match of the Day and my opinion of 'f*** VAR' gets stronger. Ridiculous the things it does and doesn't overturn. Not giving Haller and Kane penalties or sending Tielemans off, but can overturn goals because of a brushed arm (stupid rule only enabled by VAR) or judge someone's shoulder to be a millimetre further forward than someone else's knee. Farcical.

It was interesting to read that in the Bundesliga they had it like the PL do now and soon figured it wasn't working, so had the screen in the stadium like they had at the World Cup so the match referees themselves can change their mind.

I really can't see the difference between Andone's challenge last week (for which he got a deserved red card) and Tillemans' yesterday.

The other issues you raise are a matter for debate. Do we want to get all the laws applied to the letter (even if the law itself is stupid) or do we just want to get on with the game? I'm sure that most of us, in previous seasons, would have accepted a marginal offside decision that went against our team as "just one of those things" and that other such decisions would go in our favour. Using VAR to decide that someone was an inch or two offside seems to be a case of using technology "just because we can".

It's interesting for sure. I definitely think it will change as time goes on, but right now it seems like they still want the referee to ref the game rather than VAR. The penalties kne I can just about deal with but that non-sending off was ridiculous. I don't mind that is has teething problems but they have got to try and work improvements in to the system.

I think after week ones controversy they have pulled back from making big decisions as far as I can see!

That Arsenal Spurs game was thoroughly entertaining - one of those games you were gutted when the final whistle went.

Watford have sacked head coach Javi Gracia after their poor start to the season.

Really Dickish move by Watford, that is so disrespectful Javi Garcia who let's not forget got them to the FA Cup final just a few months ago. Replacing him so quickly with a manager who has already been at the club is stupid. I won't be surprised if Watford stay near the bottom of the table for the rest of the season.

Burnley midfielder Danny Drinkwater will be out for two weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage in a nightclub fight.

The 29-year-old, who is on loan from Chelsea, was reportedly attacked hours after the Clarets' 3-0 defeat by Liverpool on Saturday, 31 August.

Drinkwater is currently unable to train on grass following the incident, according to Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

"They are human beings and people do get in scrapes," Dyche said.

Not expecting an easy game against Leicester today

Brendan Rogers has got them playing well. I can see Man United losing this.

100% Leicester win I reckon unfortunately. They're full of confidence, Vardy will kill us on the break & we're all over the place.
I fancy Leicester to get a result, just not sure if they will win. Definitely going to back Vardy to score anytime- Man Utd have loads of injuries. I certainly cannot see Man Utd keeping a clean sheet.

Jamie Vardy has never scored at Old Trafford before and I don't expect that to end today. I predicted a draw for this match but hope United will get the 3 points. It would be great if Liverpool or/and Man City lose but teams lower down the table have lost their competitiveness compared to some years ago so you just know Newcastle and Norwich will bend over today.

On another note how on earth did Danny Drinkwater get an ankle injury during a fight?!

Edit: just checked and Vardy actually scored last season at Old Trafford. Still don't expect him to score today.

I'm all over Vardy to score today. Might not happen but that Man Utd team out today has to be one of the worst I've ever laid my eyes on and Leicester are playing well. In terms of betting value I'll over it.

Don't agree that teams have lost their competitveness against Liverpool and Man City. I think the big thing is these two teams are on another level right now. They'll always give up chances but the pressure they can put teams under is just relentless. Good win for Liverpool today, onwards and upwards ready for a difficult few weeks.
