June 1, 20205 yr ah, another classic case of inconsistency by the OCC. my guess is they consider 'Shallow' not as a Lady Gaga song but as a "Motion Picture Cast Recording" song, as the parent album is credited to "Motion Picture Cast Recording" rather than Gaga & Cooper, therefore it doesn't count towards her total of three and can chart separately. Ah right, well that kinda makes sense I guess
June 1, 20205 yr Gaga already having the biggest opening week sales of the year and it's only the Monday update :cheeseblock: x Also good to see Christine's EP making an appearance, hope it can stay in the top 40 for the week! So will Stupid Love get a reset even if it's not in the Lady Gaga Top 3 this week? A very curious situation It will (assuming it does have the 25% increase ofc) - this has happened a couple of times before with older singles returning to the chart a week after their album release because they get the reset even though they weren't among the artist's eligible songs in the album release week (biggest example being Ed Sheeran's 'I Don't Care', also happened for Post Malone's 'Sunflower' and maybe others I am forgetting). ah, another classic case of inconsistency by the OCC. my guess is they consider 'Shallow' not as a Lady Gaga song but as a "Motion Picture Cast Recording" song, as the parent album is credited to "Motion Picture Cast Recording" rather than Gaga & Cooper, therefore it doesn't count towards her total of three and can chart separately. make it make sense I'd almost understand this decision - except still not really - if the album was still appearing in the main albums chart, but I would have thought that it being blocked would mean that its songs count to their credited artists rather than the album as a whole having its own 3 allowed songs, similarly to how JACKBOYS were able to get 5 songs in the chart from their EP due to the weird inconsistent crediting. I guess there is maybe a different rule for 'soundtracks' than for 'compilations'? Or maybe they literally just flip a coin to decide these things for all we know lel
June 1, 20205 yr As ASIB is now classed as a compilation, in the same way as Black Panther was, wouldn't that make Shallow count as a Lady Gaga lead and get starred out for the same reason as Pray For Me?
June 1, 20205 yr sure it should be starred out but it's the OCC we're talking about, they're incapable of being consistent
June 1, 20205 yr I believe the rule is about 3 songs per album not 3 songs per artist. Shallow is fine to be there.
June 1, 20205 yr No, it definitely is (supposed to be) 3 songs per artist. The OCC's classification of which songs count towards which artist(s) is just extremely inconsistent.
June 1, 20205 yr No, it definitely is (supposed to be) 3 songs per artist. The OCC's classification of which songs count towards which artist(s) is just extremely inconsistent. So in that case Lady Gaga isn’t considered as the artist under Shallow and the artist is the Motion Picture Cast Recording?
June 1, 20205 yr So in that case Lady Gaga isn’t considered as the artist under Shallow and the artist is the Motion Picture Cast Recording? For whatever reason, that appears to be the case. 'A Star Is Born' is credited to Motion Picture Cast Recording too, so it technically does not count as a #1 album for her (much to Buzzjack's annoyance).
June 1, 20205 yr Very annoying. But no matter how much we air our grievances about OCC, at least the general public think Shallow is a number one BY Lady Gaga- so that makes up for it a bit. Also for all Gaga fans on this forum, Rain On Me has OFFICIALLY debuted at number one in the U.S giving Gaga her FIFTH number one there. Woo!!
June 1, 20205 yr poor Bradley Cooper totally obliterated from history :D the OCC always have problems when an artist is not credited solo and they've allowed 4/5 songs many times recently (ie Guetta) they're so useless they're probably incapable of separating Lady Gaga vs. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
June 1, 20205 yr Quite sad Gaga being displaced in the singles chart thought she would def get a second week, kinda wish DaBaby had maintained his position now!
June 1, 20205 yr Quite sad Gaga being displaced in the singles chart thought she would def get a second week, kinda wish DaBaby had maintained his position now! But if you're sad about Gaga not getting a second week, why do you wish he'd have denied her the first week?! That makes no sense
June 1, 20205 yr Quite sad Gaga being displaced in the singles chart thought she would def get a second week, kinda wish DaBaby had maintained his position now! That literally makes no sense. She's reached the summit... everything else is just a bonus now.
June 1, 20205 yr I've got a feeling that, because they get a joint credit, Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper counts as a separate act. If, OTOH, it was Lady Gaga featuring Bradley Cooper, it would count towards Gaga's total.

June 1, 20205 yr It can't be that. Rain On Me is jointly credited to Gaga & Ariana, and Sour Candy is jointly credited to Gaga & Blackpink, yet there are only three tracks from Chromatica in the chart. It's 99% because Shallow is from a Motion Picture Cast Recording album.
