what the ACTUAL f***

I don't fully understand if you're saying that Gaga either should just give up on the cause ("everyone else is doing it!!!1") and continue selling the album or that her action is pointless since it might affect her placing in a virtual list ranking the most popular albums of this week? Regardless, both of these things are ridiculous.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, it doesn't make sense for her to boycott herself in the album release week that she worked hard for 3 long years while 90% of the rest of the artists keep selling their stuff as if nothing was happening. She stopped selling her things, promoting her things and celebrating the deeds she fought to achieve, just for fear of being canceled by black twitter, is not fair to her art, because even if she does that, it will not change anything, tomorrow the world will remain racist, it's not being abrupt in this way that things will change.

She did it to raise awareness. It's a pretty simple concept. It's also a small token of course, it's not going to stop racism, but it's showing solidarity with the black community.

I'm sure we can all cope with Gaga's store being closed for one day of the week to pay tribute to all of the black lives lost as a result of racism.

I think you're doing a real disservice to Lady Gaga by implying that she wouldn't have done this without 'fear of being cancelled' lol

Clearly some people can't cope!

Gaga is at the point of her career where things like 50k sales over 48k sales are meaningless. If you are a Gaga stan (like some people are calling you), then really you are forgetting that one of the key reasons we as a community of "Little Monsters" stan this woman is because of how accepted she has made us all feel and how she has fought for equality and for us to have a voice. She is continuing that now for the black lives that are being denied a voice, or in the extreme cases we are seeing, a LIFE. Are we going to let that go for this week so she can sell a couple more hundred copies? No. She has taught us so much about humanity and equality - sales never once came into it, so let's remember that this week more than ever.

Also there is a thread to discussing the closing of the store, so take discussion here if needed: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234942

But it's the truth, yesterday she got #1 on Hot 100, she always celebrates great deeds like that, and for fear of being cancelled, she stayed silent, and the only way she found to celebrate was retweeting a tweet from a rain of me composer, who is black, and who celebrated, without fear of being cancelled.

This is going round in circles a bit for something that's not relevant to the chart :/

There's bigger things in the world for Gaga to be concerned about than celebrating a #1 single (and most likely a #1 album) currently.

^ Well said. I think we can lock this thread for everybody's benefit until the next midweek update arrives.
