'Break Up' definitely feels like the coolest track on the album in it's production and non-nonchalant lyrics. I'm surprised it managed to get all the way to #1 on release week (did it knock 7 Rings off?), it goes to show how popular Ariana was at the time and still is tbh! Definitely is a mood whenever it's on :heart:

Yep, Ariana was at #1 with '7 rings', then 'break up...' knocked it off, then '7 rings' ascended back to #1 the week after :lol: queen of charts!

I feel that 'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' is a sure sign that Ariana had entered a phase of her career where anything she touched was going to turn into gold instantaneously. With some distance from this era, I'm not convinced this song was hugely worth of becoming one of her #1 hits (although I still appreciate the success). Don't get me wrong, it's a good song and I was really feeling it when it was brand new - but it burned out for me pretty quickly. There's better songs on the album for sure. Still, enjoyable!
