Round 4 was a close one with both Gareth Gates and Westlife neck-and-neck and one vote separating them! In the end it is Gareth who narrowly misses out on progressing to Round 5! 'Anyone of Us (Stupid Mistake)' was Gareth's second release and spent 3 weeks at the top spot in the summer of 2002 - shifting 241,000 copies in its opening week and therefore surpassing Will Young's opening week for his second single! The track is the second of 4 UK chart toppers for Gareth and his biggest international hit - reaching #1 in Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands while also going top 10 in Austria, Germany and Belgium! I used to love this song when I was younger (probably the only Gareth song I liked) but only rediscovered it recently. It's a well-crafted pop song with such a strong melody and lyrics painting Gareth as a heartbreaker. The video is absolutely stunning as well - filmed in Venice as you can probably tell from the above gif. :lol: Gareth lasted longer in this Survivor than I expected - he scored the second-most votes in each of the first three rounds!

I love all of these remaining six, but I guess "Uptown Girl" is now the least strong

Gareth's song is much better than Westlife or McFly. Definitely another that the music channels spammed back then.

I actually went for 'All About You' this round because thinking about it I actually prefer 'Uptown Girl' to it. Glad to see that it is catching up with the two out in front! I wouldn't mind Westlife getting knocked out though. :kink:
