It's crazy to think that in a normal setting it would have been the 2020/21 thread that would have been started now instead and it's around this time of year that the new fixture list gets released.

It's a shame the previous thread couldn't quite manage 1,000 replies this time.

I know it's mad. Especially since we're likely to get straight in to the new season, with maybe a 3 week break, so in reality we're in a full season now for 11 months! And I think it's unlikely there will be much going on in terms of transfers either. You'd think the Championship teams coming up this year are going to be at a major disadvantage with less time to prepare for next season.

We’ve just had our first big controversy of the restarted season. Sheffield United looked to have scored a clear goal but the goal-line technology never went off :o

If it's that clear (I haven't seen it), can't VAR intervene?

I don’t think VAR is allowed to judge on that as the watches are meant to be 100% accurate.

Here’s a pic of it.

Actually they’ve just said VAR could have overturned it!

The Aston Villa goalkeeper looked so guilty as soon as it happened. He was literally pressing the ball on the net as well as shown in the replay. How the referee didn't give that as a goal is beyond me, it looked straight away like it was in.

There's no sign yet of the hawkeye computer image.

The other talking point is all the players and officials taking the knee for 8 seconds after the whistle was blown to start the match. That was a great idea.

That could be costly in Sheffield United and European football next season! Decent enough point for Villa too!

God knows how city aren’t in the lead yet, they’re dominating this!

David Luiz special tonight - didn't start or finish the game and 2 goals came from his mistakes....
I’ll never understand how he’s managed to accumulate so many transfers and for such a massive amount of money! Transfer fees off over 120 million....

That could come back and be the vital part in Sheffield United's season. Too late to be sorted what a mess-up that is.

Complete feck up tonight with the technology, I feel sorry for Sheffield Utd. But what a way to bring back the most exciting league in the world where the most exciting thing about the match was the rain.
