July 5, 20204 yr Not a ‘rate’ song but I was looking into Stripped and noticed that Siobhan, Mutya, Keisha and Cameron McVey had writing credits on Make Over. I was intrigued so I listened to it, you can definitely hear the similarities to Overload.
July 5, 20204 yr oops I forgot to rate in this but what an amazing top 10! Beautiful would've been my 11, shame to see it out already, but each and every song left is great. Dirrty could stand a chance, it had a HUGE reaction at her tour last year (bigger than any other song iirc!), it really popped off *.*
July 5, 20204 yr Author It's sad you only get your fame through controversy #06. Can't Hold Us Down (ft Lil' Kim) | 8.717 dg8QgUIKXHw Highest Scores: 11: (Nick F1), 10: (WinterFreeze, #VoteGarden.keh, Euphorique), Lowest Scores: 6: (Bjork, Cameron) At #6 & just missing the top 5 by a very narrow margin is Can't Hold Us Down, released in July 2003 as the 4th single from her 4th studio album Stripped & features rapper Lil' Kim, making this their 2nd collaboration since 2001's smash hit 'LM'. The song has been widely recognized as a feminist anthem due to its lyrical content and upon release it received mixed reviews, but became a commercial success on the charts worldwide with top 5 peaks in Iceland, New Zealand, Hungary, Australia & Ireland, along with top 10 peaks in UK, Belgium, Denmark, Germany & Netherlands, then top 20 mostly everywhere else, including in the USA where it reached a #12 peak, becoming the album's 2nd highest charting hit there. Didn't expect this to be so high (certainly not over 'Beautiful'), but this obviously has its fans on here, & yeah I'm one of them, with its strong theme of self-respect & remember listening to theis album back in the day & really liking this track, its a firm standout moment on there and glad it became a single. The addition of Lil' Kim was great as it does add a strong edge to this track. Also like how Xtina pulls no punches in order to address the issues, being a lot more confrontational than a lot of the singers at the time, alongside its cool hop-hop beats & some dancehall elements that makes this track really shine. One of Xtina's strongest numbers in her discography.

July 5, 20204 yr Glad CHUD beat Beautiful, I never ever liked that song even back in 2003. Wish it was top5 though
July 5, 20204 yr Author Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed #05. The Voice Within' | 8.782 nA2k79EGHbc Highest Scores: 11: (Nightcrawler, Lukuzz), 10: (Jonjo, Scene, Nick F1, #VoteGarden.keh), Lowest Scores: 6: (Bjork, ElectroBoy) Kicking off the top 5 we lose our 3rd Stripped single in a row; The Voice Within', released in October 2003 as the 5th & final single from that album. Originally Xtina wanted the Alica Keys penned "Impossible" as the final single, but RCA pushed for 'TVW' as they felt a big ballad would be more successful & suitable for the X-Mas market. Upon release the song received postive reviews with some comparing it to the works of Celine Dion & Mariah Carey. Commercially the song became a success with top 5 peaks in Czech Republic, Ireland & Switzerland, & top 10 oeaks in Netherlands, Austria, Australia, Hungary, Denmark, UK, Canada, Scotland & Sweden. In the USA it performed moderately by reaching a #33 peak, becoming her 11th top 40 entry. After its release the song's become one of Xtina's most well known songs & has been covered on several TV talent shows across the globe. This is yet another beautifully sung track by Xtina, that carries an inspiring message with some powerful vocals. Although I do feel that this theme was already covered in her earlier single "Beautiful" (which is also from the same album) & done far better in my opinion. Maybe that's why she wanted to release "Impossible" instead, which in itself is another album highlight & while it would have been interesting to see how'd that would have fared, "TVW" was probably the better choice in hindsight, safer & far more memorable, as even to this day its still remembered fondly. The softer tone of her voice in the first half is really stunning, before she lets those powerful vocals soar in the second half, set against a rather lovely piano driven beat that's simple yet very effective in helping to deliver the song's message.
July 5, 20204 yr Giggling at the fact you keep putting an apostrophe after the word within as if you think the title is meant to be 'The Voice Withing'. :kink:

July 5, 20204 yr The Voice Within is actually my favourite Xtinct song! (I gave 'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely' my 11 as I knew that'd need it more) But TVW is just... STUNNING. Glad to see it reach top 5! I'm gonna predict: 01. Fighter 02. Hurt 03. Dirrty 04. Genie In A Bottle as the top 4 now!
July 6, 20204 yr Love that Hurt is top 5. I remember when it re-entered after a girl band performed it on X factor! Shocked that Beautiful is not top 5
