Foxy returns to the radio with Sunday chart show

Neil Fox is joining United DJs to host a Sunday afternoon chart show every week.

The former Magic, Capital and Pepsi Chart Show host returns on July 26th from 1pm till 3pm for the Heritage Chart Run Down.

Foxy says: “When Tony Prince and Mike Read approached me about hosting the brand new weekly Heritage Chart, it felt like a perfect fit.

“I love doing countdowns and I love being on-air. I can’t wait to get back to doing a weekly run down!”

The chart will be compiled each week by the stations DJs, overseen by Mike Read and Neil Fox.

Neil hasn’t been on the radio since he left Magic Breakfast six years ago, apart from a stint at former London DAB station Thames Radio in 2016.

At a Radio Academy event in 2017 he revealed he turned down a job offer from Global in favour of joining Thames Radio.

The last I heard about this guy he was on trial for sex offences. Apparently he was acquitted though, who knew. x
I am guessing they will do run downs of classic chart weeks then, or will they be looking at up to date weekly charts minus the contemporary artists? Not sure how the latter would work unless they just stuck to iTunes etc.

Sounds more like the latter.. guess it could just be made up or only loosely calculated on sales and airplay

It's a nice idea

The OCC used to compile a Catalogue Singles chart about 10 years ago which excluded tracks from the last 2 years but in the download era it was fairly fast moving (Music Week used to publish the top 20). These days it would be static (number 1 for all of 2020 would probably have been 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran) assuming it is still compiled.

Looks like he was disqualified from the GMC and had his doctorate removed though...

Well, the legend that is Tony Prince would know about making up charts. I was avid lover of the Radio Luxembourg charts in the early 70's. Totally made-up - they basically removed all the non-teen-appealing songs and guessed which tracks would sell the following week based on the BBC top 50

Eh? He never was a proper Dr, had no qualifications in medicine, was just a title he gave himself.
