February 21, 20214 yr Author It’ll surely do for the rest of the season for now, Hendo isn’t exactly the fastest and Trent will have to learn. The penalty came from us committing near the end to equalise. Trent was our best attacker yesterday and did well to get back. But that's our problem in a nutshell, if we over commit at any point all it takes is the oppossition to win a second ball and it's almost a one on one.
February 21, 20214 yr Is this a good time to mention that Everton have scored more goals at Anfield this year than Liverpool have? :P
February 21, 20214 yr Author Is this a good time to mention that Everton have scored more goals at Anfield this year than Liverpool have? :P I don't want to give them anymore credit  They ruined our season then Pickford decides to turn up and have a decent performance. Make no mistake about it, that result was their cup final. They will drop off a cliff now
February 21, 20214 yr Is this a good time to mention that Everton have scored more goals at Anfield this year than Liverpool have? :P Brilliant! What a difference a year makes!
February 21, 20214 yr That will do for me, frustrating in the first half, but turned it up a notch in the 2nd and Newcastle couldn't cope. Where was Martial?
February 21, 20214 yr Leicester City have won back-to-back away top-flight matches against Aston Villa for the first time since October 1960.
February 22, 20214 yr Brilliant! What a difference a year makes! Indeed Man United set to not be English champions for an 8th year 😁
February 22, 20214 yr 13 in a row then for Man City. It’s weird it’s like Pep wants to prove his teams can defend now or something and want to win 0-1. Stone and Dias amazing at the back!
February 22, 20214 yr Indeed Man United set to not be English champions for an 8th year 😁 At least we were not the ones "defending" the title this season.
February 22, 20214 yr Author At least we were not the ones "defending" the title this season. Look as poor as our defense of the title has been, I'd say there are a lot of mitigating factors. I don't know how any club competes with the level of injuries we have had this year (City didn't). There are some concerning factors but a lot of this is down to the shape and inability to freshen things up. I think a lot of being made of Liverpool at the moment and rightly so, but it was only 4/5 weeks ago Man Utd were title challengers, when the reality is they're still going to be 18-20 points behind come May. Of course that goes under the radar though.

Of course that goes under the radar though. We were not expected to be challenging for the title before the season started though and compared to where we have been for the last 2 seasons we have improved. It was mentioned on BT Sport yesterday that we are 14 points better off now than we were at the same stage of last season, of course if a team wins 13 games in a row in the league they're going to more than likely be comfortably top of the table. I don't think many people would have predicted Man Utd or Leicester to be 2nd or 3rd either, City and Liverpool were the nailed on top 2 in the vast majority of predictions.

The season Liverpool got 97 points, nobody really thought we would be challenging too. I think you have improved but you were presented with a fantastic opportunity to at least put some pressure on City. Any team that usually puts 10+ games of a win streak in a row has a great shot at the title. But that's forgetting at Christmas time you were in a fantastic position to at least put some pressure on City. They're going to start dropping points in the next couple of games, I think as has been pointed out and was the case last season as well, City's faults come usually when they concede first.
February 22, 20214 yr We weren't in the conversation at all at the start of this season. I agree we've missed a bit of an opportunity to get even closer but no chance we're catching them now. Think they'll probably win every game until they've mathematically won the league then perhaps drop off when they rest players to go for the Champions League. If you take out that freak 5-2 against Leicester they've conceded 10 goals in 24 games, that's better than peak Mourinho-Chelsea. It's very similar to the 17-18 season when we finished second but a mammoth 19 points behind City. Difference is there was way more expectation on us that season. Depending on how the rest of this season goes, I think there'll be some real pressure to challenge for the title next season but first Ole has to win either the FA Cup or Europa League imo. I think they are starting to wane now, while they played well against Everton they were not creating bucket loads of chances. The problem is nobody has tested them and scored an early goal or even nicked a goal in a tight game, this is always where City's mentality used to be a bit wayward. Nobody has even laid a glove this season post West Brom. Surely you have to challenge for the title next season? You have spent loads and will probably spend again in the summer. The Europa League this year is surely going to be won by an English team, I can't see past an all English semi-final at this stage.
February 22, 20214 yr At least we were not the ones "defending" the title this season. I would rather be ‘defending’ the title no matter what than being the self proclaimed biggest club in the world and have so much wealth and power and still struggling to get things right 8 years and 4 managers after the huge freak amazingness of Ferguson. So I don’t buy this expectations nonsense from United fans not just on here in general. Yous are one of the most wealthy clubs in the world and have everything going for you and you SHOULD be challenging every season. The good thing imo with the improvements in United this season is that he will be given another two years or so as I don’t see you winning the biggest trophies with him at the wheel. February 22, 20214 yr Some game that between Brighton and Palace - Palace had two changes and scored two goals, sums Brighton up really. In the two games between Brighton and Palace Brighton had 44 shots on target and Palace had 4 and the latter got 4 points, crazy!
