I think we need to reopen the Panic Buying thread but sadly it appears to have been locked!

Just got back from Asda and a pleasant experience. No queues and the only items low on stock are loo rolls and sugar. Everything else plentiful. Very few people in which surprised me with lockdown tomorrow.

This is great news. I haven't been able to see my Nan in person since early March- obviously I 'll still have to keep distance and won't be able to hug her but at least I can be with her instead of on a Zoom chat with her putting her thumb all over the iPad camera so I see basically a black screen !

25,177 new cases and 492 deaths today.

I am going to assume some of this is data tacked on that was missing from the weekend.

Yeah Tuesdays generally always been the highest day of the week what with the weekend reporting lag.

44 in Wales which has shot up.

Bit annoyed with my wife. With the R rising in London she's gone to work on the tube this week. :( She says she has her free travel pass after 9 so saves on petrol and her employers give her a weekly travel allowance. ;) Also the A406 seems to get busier and busier by the week. Yes but she could catch Covid on the Tube and give me it. She says most wear masks but not all by any means and no staff say anything. At least in the car she's alone. I can't tell her what to do though, stubborn like me.

Actually Covid-19 presence on London transport have been found to be very low/negative in a recent study. Very reassuring, especially now a lot less will be using them. I see very few without a mask myself

Some people don't have a choice unfortunately. My college haven't closed (for now at least) and I have to use it as I don't drive, I don't like it, but it's a necessity when keeping certain places open.

I’m probably gonna head to work tomorrow even though I don’t have to

We're still going in, will have to find my letter that gives permission to travel to work in the very unlikely event that the police turn up with their drones.

The media is reporting that furlough will now be extended to March 2021 but the exact details are not yet clear (i.e. whether it's the 80% still). Another welcome u-turn!

Or another 5 months of Lockdown on the horizon..

Although I fully suspect a Tier 4 will be created which effectively locks places down. There are some places which are royally fuked in the country and they just cannot get the infection rates down.

Not in the South though...

Which is fine with me!

Just found out my girlfriend's grandad was rushed to hospital with COVID last night. He was diagnosed with cancer last month so the outlook isn't looking good (the treatment has left his immune system compromised). I didn't have any close family or friends that caught it in the first wave, but sadly it seems that many people I know personally have caught it this time around.

Well, the cynic in me is going to say London is a prime candidate for a longer lockdown..

But I totally agree the main areas of concern are in the North and are significantly related to culture. I was reading an article about Bradford, I think Test & Trace had the lowest 'success' rate in the area, which was about 40% -even with local support it got to 50%. Too many people not wanting to disclose contacts and giving fake addresses.

This is why the track and tracing work should have been done by local public health personnel - people who know their local area because they live there and understand any cultural sensitivities.

I went to Morrison’s earlier and I didn’t have to queue up to get in. I could just walk straight in. Although I did hear yesterday on the radio that Sainsbury’s were gonna re-introduce the outdoor queuing
Have you seen the video on ITV News of that woman arrested for trying to take her elderly mother out of a nursing home? Cops wouldn't let her.
Wetherspoons are tonight selling all pints of beer, lager and cider to takeaway for 99p so that it doesn't go off. You've to order and pay online.
