October 17, 20204 yr I’m all for it. Ladbaby is the only thing that makes the Christmas chart interesting these days. The only thing that would make it more interesting would be if someone actually provided some sincere competition.
October 17, 20204 yr It's rumoured to be Another Sausage Roll Christmas, after the Gary Glitter 1984 Top 10 hit. There's not a chance he'll cover a Gary Glitter song
October 17, 20204 yr There's not a chance he'll cover a Gary Glitter song  Yeah, I've never even heard the Gary Glitter song (for good reason) and therefore it is hardly known among most people.
October 17, 20204 yr Yeah, I've never even heard the Gary Glitter song (for good reason) and therefore it is hardly known among most people. More reason why he could do it then as it's not widely known amongst young people. Change the lyrics and it's only the tune.
October 17, 20204 yr It would be a massive PR own goal to cover Gary Glitter. Hardly a good look raising money for charity.
October 17, 20204 yr It would be a massive PR own goal to cover Gary Glitter. Hardly a good look raising money for charity. Yes you're right. Just a rumour I read on Twitter last night.
October 17, 20204 yr Surely it will depend more than normal on what charity(ies) he supports. A rival release from someone raising money to go to key workers to thank them for their efforts this year would potentially get a lot of support.
October 17, 20204 yr Really, its a sure #1 due to the terrible year we are having, but than again will people dig deep this year. And covering a Gary Glitter track just feels so wrong
October 17, 20204 yr I guess there will be lots of charity singles this year aiming at both raise funds and get the Xmas #1 so the right charity single could beat him, if there is a heavy campaign and they support a better charity Adele could do one and get away with the Xmas #1...
October 17, 20204 yr Please let it be an original song. And not something like "Sausage Roll Dreams Come Through", or "Mr Sausage Roll", or "It's a Long Way To The Shop (If You Want a Sausage Roll)."
October 17, 20204 yr Please let it be an original song. And not something like "Sausage Roll Dreams Come Through", or "Mr Sausage Roll", or "It's a Long Way To The Shop (If You Want a Sausage Roll)." I am not holding up much hope for a cover of the Johnny Boy (#50) 2004 hit single retitled as “You Are The Generation That Bought Sausage Rolls And You Get What You Deserve”.
October 17, 20204 yr I can't see any major star like Adele attempting for Christmas number one as I'm sure they don't want any potential negative publicity from denying LadBaby the #1. There'll surely be a lot of rando charity singles most of which won't take off beyond going top 40 on iTunes, but I doubt any of them would actually be a real contender.
October 17, 20204 yr It’s almost seeming like tradition now that he gets the Christmas #1. I guess he’ll probably end up getting it. With Xmas actually being on a Friday this year I wonder if the Xmas chart itself will be when most Xmas related tracks peak as sometimes it’s the chart after the Xmas one. At the minute it’s probably Mariah again coming for #2 but hopefully they’ll be another big charity release coming to try and give some competition. I wouldn’t be too shocked if they tried to get Captain Tom Moore on something to try and give the #1 to him.

Biggest streaming days for Christmas songs is always Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so the Christmas Day streams will count toward the following week and the Christmas Eve streams will be ignored because Thursday data doesn't come in on time to compile the chart.
October 17, 20204 yr Estimated based on their streams on Christmas Eve in previous years, or just on their streams earlier in the week? I think Amazon streams for the Thursday might be counted anyway, as they usually report on time in the midweeks. It's a moot point as far as the Christmas classics are concerned, as ACR combined with the split chart weeks means they won't compete for #1 in either week (unless sales are drastically low). Could there be another Alexa effect for something newer? Don't see it myself (and again the way Christmas falls won't help), but that or another charity record are the only things I think could potentially prevent Ladbaby.
October 17, 20204 yr There's so many songs with "rock and roll" in the title that he could cover but my money's still on 'God Gave Sausage Rolls To You'.
