Third out is the debut single from JLS. 'Beat Again' was released in July 2009 - 7 months after the group lost out to Alexandra Burke in that iconic X Factor final - and stormed to #1 by selling 106,000 copies in its first week. I personally dislike the song... it's very cheesy and dated, but I can appreciate how it became a bit of a trailblazer for future X Factor acts. The likes of Olly, One Direction and Cher Lloyd followed this blueprint of releasing a debut single in the summer/early autumn before leading the album with a second single. JLS proved winning The X Factor isn't everything and they set a precedent for non-winners enjoying relatively long pop careers. Plus they reignited the public's appetite for a boyband which was a dying breed in the charts (Take That were more of a man band and McFly's success dwindled a couple years before). I wonder if Simon Cowell would have been so motivated to create One Direction if it wasn't for JLS finding success on another label. :kink:

It has to be Will Young now. I'm surprised it's been getting such few votes so far.

Still going with Bodyrockers.

Light My Fire I actually really like. Will sings it so well. It felt tiresome at the time with Pop Idol overkill but I’ve found a new found love for it.

Beat Again is a brilliant pop track. Liked most of JLS' singles actually and that set the groundwork for great success!
Will Young to go this time. Light My Fire is meh.

Going for the Bodyrockers again

I'm a bit surprised that JLS went before both Will and Shayne. I thought 'Beat Again' was pretty well respected for a X Factor/boyband single, and especially compared to most of the JLS singles that came after. Must just not have aged well for people I suppose.
