November 12, 20205 yr Does Sainsbury’s even still sell vinyl anymore? The Superstore near me which used to sell vinyl has done away with all Cds/DVDs/Vinyl, and the smaller ones never sold it in the first place (though oddly still sell cds)
November 12, 20205 yr Sorry but I'm a fan of hers!!!! She's amazing! But it's obvious that those 10k of extra sales coming after slower Sunday and Monday come from people who are just collecting the units. You can clearly see it from posts in these topics. Hi hun. Maybe Kylies sales are a little higher but I think shed have done simialr to golden without the extras put out. Dont forget gaga also had about 9 or 10 formats. Anyway, it is nice to see Kylie on top. What a legend. I hope I am as successful in 4 years time. What do you think my huns? Thanks huns. Just Queen Carol

Gaga had lots of formats too but I don't think there was any external urge for people to buy them, other than they are nice to have. I bought two, cd and a vinyl.
November 12, 20205 yr Kylie’s team have just put a ‘Super Deluxe Edition’ on her official store with a Basement Jaxx remix of ‘Say Something’. Just tried to find the remix on Spotify and it doesn’t seem to be there yet. I want to hear it so badly but looks like they are keeping it as an exclusive for one final days sales push. Her team really do have everything up their sleeve - what a first week campaign.

November 12, 20205 yr Amazing effort from Kylie and team. Little Mix and team didn't try half as hard as I thought they would. A shame. I think if they had these more effective strategies (and album pricing) they would have snatched it.

I think if they had these more effective strategies (and album pricing) they would have snatched it. Half of Little Mix's formats selling out at the start of the week while Kylie just added more and more lol. RCA were not prepared.
November 12, 20205 yr Don’t forget sales will be lower because of the England lockdown....they needed to be creative this week to sell the physical copies that had been produced to make up for the fact every record shop is closed. Supermarkets are only stocking a few standard CD and the vinyl offering In Sainsbury’s is pretty poor now.. it’s mainly catalogue Vinyl. Also, my sisters workplace (Tesco) is 2 levels. They got told to shut off upstairs (and that's where they keep most of their non-essential items) so access to CD's and DVD's etc.. were restricted (unless they have a stand or something to locate downstairs - idk). So casual buyers wouldn't have been able to just pick one up in passing.

I think if they had these more effective strategies (and album pricing) they would have snatched it. I don't think it has anything to do with Little Mix not trying hard lol, there's only so much they can do if the production of their items aren't taking place- or have slowed down. Their team should have definitely pre-emptively had other things ready to go, but I don't think they knew how hard Kylie's team goes on release week. That being said, I knew Kylie would snag the #1 when I saw those initial iTunes numbers, Disco was just doing something for the GP that Golden wasn't (if this was Golden vs LM5, LM5 would've gotten it), and it reflected in her getting the #1. Little Mix are going to end the week with yet another #2 album that would outsell 95% of the #1s this year (ala Get Weird in 2015 and LM5 in 2018) with a #3 single (with a possibility to rise to #1 next week) so I think that's great. Congrats to Kylie, she deserves it.
November 12, 20205 yr I know everyone is focused on LM vs Kylie, but Levitating is now #3 combined on UK iTunes. It's been steadily rising all week. Will this help it edge into the top 10? I think Levitating has #10 in the bag :w00t: Missing steaming data and her lead over Sam on Spotify is just too much!
November 12, 20205 yr Sorry but I'm a fan of hers!!!! She's amazing! But it's obvious that those 10k of extra sales coming after slower Sunday and Monday (two days of 2k/daily) come from people who are just collecting the units. You can clearly see it from posts in these topics. honestly, it's not only Kylie. Any artists like her are doing this, releasing a lot of bundles and different formats do increase the sales. LM did the same thing. What happens is that LM has the streaming advantage, and this a thing that artists like Kylie fails. Madonna with a huge fan base only did 27k, and with a lot of different bundles.
November 12, 20205 yr Disco was just doing something for the GP that Golden wasn't (if this was Golden vs LM5, LM5 would've gotten it), I'm not so sure, I feel like Golden in Q4 would have beaten Little Mix just as easily!
November 12, 20205 yr Are you releasing an album hun? Hi hun No hun. I just mean in my life, this year has been a crap one. So hopefully some of Kylies success rubs off on me. Bless her. Thanks huns Just Carol honey
November 12, 20205 yr Gaga had lots of formats too but I don't think there was any external urge for people to buy them, other than they are nice to have. I bought two, cd and a vinyl. Thanks hun. I dont think theres a super urge. I think mostly it is from collectors hun as per any Kylie release. Thanks hun. Just Carol honey
November 12, 20205 yr I think LM team relied so much on the their BBC show + EMA + fans streaming harshly. I was worried about if one of them faced Bruce 2 weeks ago, but right now, I think both LM and Kylie would snatch the number 1.
November 12, 20205 yr I don't think it's toxic per se to battle for #1? But the longevity will reveal if Kylie's casual fans are on board, not the first week campaigns. We know Little Mix has hits to back their album and that should do pretty well in coming weeks. They're talking about the fans, as evidenced in the threads discussing it this week.
November 12, 20205 yr In all the frenzy from the past 2 days I ordered a signed vinyl and a signed cd, neither of which have been shipped yet. I’m still curious about what the rules are for when a sale is counted towards the charts. If they haven’t been shipped by this evening I guess they’ll count towards next week?

The Superstore near me which used to sell vinyl has done away with all Cds/DVDs/Vinyl, and the smaller ones never sold it in the first place (though oddly still sell cds)I'm sure I read a couple of months ago that Sainsbury's were going to stop selling all physical media including vinyl, CDs, BluRay etc. However I've just done a Google search and can't find any online articles.
November 12, 20205 yr Confetti will definitely sell more in the long run - Kylie’s main tool is promo, and when that dries up after Christmas so will her record sales. Little Mix have blanket radio coverage and Spotify support to keep sales steady for ages.
