Sure 'positions' isn't the cultural moment that 'thank u, next' was but it's still connected with the public in big way, without an ounce of promo at that, beating off all competition for 5 weeks possibly going on 6. Therefore, she's placed at #1 for several weeks - what's not 'deserved' about that?
It's inocuous but nothing really special.

Yes, I love most of her singles and Dangerous Woman is still one of my favourite pop albums, but I never really liked positions (song).

I think we can all agree that Ariana deserves her success even though this song overstayed its welcome at #1, but I'd be more than happy to see any other track from positions reaching the top of the singles chart.

I’m sorry but I don’t agree she deserves her current level of success. She is completely overrated and there are far better artists around. The good thing is that it’s not selling much for a no1 song which says a lot!

Ariana, Little Mix and Miley defeating the mighty Mariah so far. I would have thought that for non fans of rap that it would be great to see an artist like Ariana potentially have a 6th week at #1 rather than Mr Drake or 'Lemonade'.
I think Drakes moment at the top might have peaked, Ariana has taken his crown!

I said she deserves her success, I personally don't really like positions very much so I'm glad she reached #1 but now I'd like someone else in that spot; and I'm most certainly not denying that she has the biggest song in the UK right now.

the two Alexa songs are lower on the amazon chart than they are in this official update when I last checked which seems very sus. I think amazon are inflating the figures of those songs to get them higher in the chart and this is why River denied Mariah of number one last year.

I really don’t want to believe that there’s any rigging going on but it does seem inexplicable.

Do we know how it works when they report streams to the OCC? Presumably they need to accompany it with some sort of evidence?

There's absolutely no need to bring up Manchester in relation to Ariana in this context, it's disrespectful to both her and the victims of such a horrible attack. That was over three years ago and Ariana's going from strength to strength. positions is a bit of a default #1 by virtue of there not really being any other competition, but (until this week where Mariah will almost definitely be the SCR #1) she's been a genuine #1 each time. Love the song or hate the song, it's your choice, but let's not try and put Ariana down quite so easily just because you're not a fan.

Sorry that wasn't directed at your comment specifically (which is why I didn't quote it!) - just at the general "she doesn't deserve it" attitude that crops up every week. I don't care if people don't like the song (I'm well aware, people love to shout about it on here :drama: ) but it gets tiring to read that she "doesn't deserve it" because it doesn't "sound" like a multi-week #1 or isn't someone else's favourite like Little Mix or Miley  she's earning her stripes people!!

Mariah was actually behind LM until today on Amazon and Apple I think...

Definitely on Apple so I guess that’s had an impact.

Sure tomorrow Mariah will overtake easily at 2.

If Ariana was gonna get a #1 off the back of Manchester attack it surely would’ve been One Last Time which donated proceeds to charity following the horrendous incident what happened at her concert or it would’ve been with no tears left to cry her first official release what happened since the atrocity.

The incident in no way is impacting how successful her career now three years on. I’d still rather Ariana get the #1 over a Xmas track even if it’s not one of her absolute best it’s still a bop and a grower. This site loves female artists but then they also shade females who have huge success (like if another female had a multi week top ten this site would explode but Ariana gets a 6 week #1 potentially and it’s all she doesn’t deserve it  )

Bitter sweet for LM chance of repeaking with 1 track (although I bet that witch MC stops them though ) and highly likely to miss top 40 with the ND track since its 32 already ,

I'm delighted that Ariana Grande is set to have an 6th week at #1, it was the flop of having a chart double there was no need for it, we had the Kylie Minogue/Little Mix album battle thread which was the El Clasico of Buzzjack and now Ariana beating the mighty Mariah.

It is only an singles and album chart isn't it??

we should take into account that there's 2 days of Amazon reported vs just 1 for Spotify/Apple

then it all kinda fits but positions 2-14 might be all pretty low and close...

but still looks like Amazon are reporting around 2,000 streams a day for Bieber

which seems like a lot considering he's not even close to the top

and on Spotify with a bigger market share Ariana is doing ca. 2,500 streams a day at #1

Putting down other artists doesn't make your favourite better. Even though I'm very glad Positions is still at the top I kinda wish she slipped a little bit further down to just take a break from all these drama queens daily reminding us how terrible the song is, apparently.
The satisfaction I'll get watching tbe Christmas songs evaporate from the charts starting 27th December. The buzz. The euphoria. The elation. It's all i want for Christmas.

Whilst I am a Little Mix stan first, I am a Mariah stan second. Don’t speak abt her like this ma’am.

Unfortunately they’ll be on the first chart of 2021 as Christmas Day falls on a Friday this year; that day alone will offset reduced streams from 26th Dec onwards.

They will sell hardly anything from Sunday - Thursday that week though.
