Does anyone know whether December 1st is huge even when it’s mid week?

Most people here seem to think it will be, but I'm not so sure - the last 2 years it was on a weekend so more people were putting decorations up, etc. while listening to Christmas music, whereas this year I think more would have done that on the weekend just gone (I certainly did). Do many people listen to Christmas songs while they're working?

I know a lot of people hold off until 1st December to hear Christmas songs. They'll certainly see a boost as that's when many find it socially acceptable to listen to them.
What a flop for 'Nathan Mix' :(

It will most likely pick up after Christmas now I think.

Think Jim has a point and it’s what I was trying to get at. Maybe that’ll take away from it plus November Christmas seems more acceptable this year

Considering all the Christmas tracks above it, what would you expect  , the track would have been at least Top 30 if you take all the Christmas tracks out of the equation :P

Wow. I think we all knew Gary would have the lead over Steps on the albums but I thought the margin would be a lot larger than that! Nice to see McFly are looking likely to stay Top 30.

November Christmas is more acceptable this year but I still know plenty of people who are resisting the urge until December. It may be less noticeable a bump this year, but even a small bump is all Mariah really needs to really secure a #1.

Mariah's Spotify numbers more than doubled on 1st December 2017 which was a Friday (although that's still near enough a weekend tbf). spotifycharts.com doesn't seem to archive as far back as December 2016 unfortunately. I still expect 1st December will mark a substantial spike for her despite being midweek, although maybe it'll still be lower than her Sunday numbers.

And I know loads who have given into the urge

It’ll be an extremely interesting week at any rate!

The Amazon and Apple data will be important too!

It was a Sunday last year and got 696k didn’t it? It’ll likely be what it was this weekend on Tuesday me thinks at a random guess.

Some huge drops from Friday in the mids, due to the Christmas deluge and not all due to ACR

Well there are 19 Christmas songs above it

I just can't deal with almost 50% of the Top 40 being Christmas songs and we're not even in December

There will definitely be a surge in Christmas songs being streamed tomorrow, lots of people wait until Dec 1st.

In non-Christmas related news, great to see McFly actually climbing a couple of places in the mids from last Friday's official position - I was fully expecting them to do a 2-63-OUT!

Wonder if it was due to Giovanni on I’m A Celeb!

Probably more to do with the £6.99 CD/£16.99 Vinyl on Amazon Black Friday, they also reduced the signed versions on their website too.

*Giovanna :)

But yeah the price reduction probably makes more sense!

Doesn’t help bands like McFly only get radio 2 support and they remove songs on the week of release in terms of airplay!
CFN has its own separate vinyl release though no?

I’m not sure it does... the vinyl is just CFN but it comes with the 2CD set also which contains the original album. No idea how that would be counted though!

Ah right, well if that's the case then it makes a little more sense! I'm surprised that they'd go to such lengths to ensure the sales are combined when no other artist has ever done such a thing to my knowledge but hey ~

(also even with that I'd still have thought it'd count as a separate entry of 'Future Nostalgia / Club Future Nostalgia' as double album bundles usually chart as separate entities as well! though I suppose here it's treated more as an extension / deluxe version of the original album since CFN itself isn't registered as a separate album)

Branding a song a flop in 2020 because it doesn’t do ridiculously well first week? Groundbreaking.
