January 23, 20223 yr We’re finally getting CO2 monitors in school this week. I don’t think it’ll do anything but tell us that even though our ventilation is as good as it can be, it’s not enough.
January 23, 20223 yr Thanks all <3 + fingers crossed you'll be okay for the funeral Suedey. Hope so. When is it Suedy?
January 23, 20223 yr Hope so. When is it Suedy? It's on Feb 7th, almost five weeks after she passed away. That sort of delay seems to be fairly normal these days.
January 23, 20223 yr It's on Feb 7th, almost five weeks after she passed away. That sort of delay seems to be fairly normal these days. Yes I've heard it's about that here now too, even if everything is straightforward.
January 24, 20223 yr Grant Shapps is a moron He says the uk now has „one of the most open travel sectors in the world“. Horseshit. Well done for finally taking off day 2 testing but previously you were only light in comparison to China, Australia or New Zealand. Now the UK is comparable to an average country. Every arrival needs a passenger locator form. Half the EU doesn’t, Germany doesn’t from green list countries. So the UKs paperwork means it cannot be described as such as there’s still barriers which other countries either don’t have or only partly use. Also let’s not kid ourselves that doing the bare minimum to facilitate travel is to be applauded when you championed the removal of ease of access to the EU
January 24, 20223 yr The Tories always lie full stop but always bigging up their record compared with other countries which is jingoistic and nasty anyhow. Like when our GDP has increased the most compared to the previous year in respect to other countries but tha's because ours only tanked the most previously.
January 25, 20223 yr An NHS anti-vaccine (for him) doctor has been on radio 2 explaining that he doesn't need the jab because he's young and the long-term effects haven't been been sorted yet (in terms of 5-years-worth of data) and it's only those with health problems that need it. he's sort of threatening to leave the NHS rather than have the jab, and waffling about those countries that got immunised early being stuck with high caseloads now. With no context to these claims or reference to studies proving that this is the case, and ignoring the 130,000 deaths prior to jabs when a small proportion of the population had caught Covid vs the reduced deathrate amongst the people who have caught it since jabs came in. Duh! I'm sure this will come as a real comfort to the family of the Chinese doctor that blew the whistle at age 30 or so, caught Covid from being so close to so many patients with Covid that his immune system wasn't able to cope with the Covid OD and died. And all the medical staff who have died. And all the patients who caught it in hospital from staff who hadn't been immunised in order to reduce transmission. But it's alright now cos only sick people have died and that's just a thing. I say, call their bluff. Good luck with getting jobs abroad if you refuse to get a jab - you won't even get into the country. In terms of long-term effects of the jab, it should be fairly easy by now to compare side-effects of the vaccines with side-effects of getting Covid amongst the healthy and come to a conclusion. And it definitely helps prevent it spreading. Doctors can be dicks too......

Is this the NHS doctor, that isn't really an actual doctor, the same doctor that's been doing the rounds on all the TV shows? The NHS is better without these types of people. There are a great few studies of footballers who put off getting the vaccine, catching covid and coming down with the same side effects they were worried about getting from the vaccine. Joshua Kimmich is probably the biggest example. I just find it all a bit odd really how strongly some people feel about vaccines, but I'm over the point of caring now. You can't change morons from being morons unfortunately.

Could well be the same, it's a bit unusual for someone to come on air and announce to all their patients that they havent been vaccinated and expect them to put their trust in the mask the doctor is presumably wearing to keep them safe®....
January 25, 20223 yr Author Tested positive after dodging it all this time :( not feeling tooooo bad so let's hope it stays that way 🤞 Sorry to hear that Jade, you have strong protection with the vaccine so hopefully you don't develop symptoms for too long, most people I know who caught the Omicron variant (having had full vaccination) basically barely noticed they had it. Take it easy and hope you feel better soon x Re: the vaccine hesitancy from NHS workers. I completely get the point of view from those on the frontline that have already had Covid-19 through the earlier part of the pandemic and believe natural immunity will be enough to protect them - and also that making it mandatory seems a bit redundant now that there is much more vaccine breakthrough infection with Omicron (as 'restrictions on liberty can be justified if they prevent harm to others' no longer holds). I mean, the second of those reasons doesn't really stack up when they would have been offered the vaccine a year ago and this didn't really apply until recently, there is precedent as well.. doctors have to have a Hepatitis B vaccine to work in the NHS. Having said all this, the following from Austria is complete and utter lunacy: From mid-March, police will start checking people’s vaccination status during routine checks; people who can’t produce proof of vaccination will be asked in writing to do so, and will be fined up to 600 euros ($685) if they don’t. Talk about feeding the conspiracy theorists. It's got to be about free choice at the end of the day through persuasion - if you can't do that, then you've failed and probably damaged the public support for vaccination overall.
January 25, 20223 yr Hope you’re doing ok Jade!! I know so many people that have this now. Until Omricon I didn’t know a single person irl who’d had it. Berlin is very much where London was 6 weeks ago. The Bundestag is debating tomorrow if they will follow Austrias lead and make vaccinations mandatory for all. Germany already has a major issue with the far right and antivax nutjobs right now. This won’t make it any better (tho I do support mandatory vaccination. No one who refuses to take it has any place in the health or care sector as it goes against literally the basic moral and ethical principles of their profession.) Is this the NHS doctor, that isn't really an actual doctor, the same doctor that's been doing the rounds on all the TV shows? The NHS is better without these types of people. You can't change morons from being morons unfortunately. I’m still howling at the entire Kimmich shitshow. He’s since come out and said he will get vaccinated now  he was the king of Germanys anti-vax nutters and was the butt of everyone else’s jokes. He’s still used as an example now. They say now that the Bundesliga is 99% vaccinated, so Bayern at one point having 5 unvaxxed players was really against the league averages but partly shows that these obscene sums of Money makes you stupid (see also the pitiful rates at some Prem clubs)
January 31, 20223 yr Why is it "right for democracy" to allow someone to put me at risk just because they find wearing a mask a bit of a chore? Masks are largely to protect other people, not the wearer. Why has that message still not got through to some people? Why is it "right for democracy" to allow someone to drive a car and put me at risk just because they find walking a bit of a chore? :arrr:
January 31, 20223 yr Masks protect the OTHER PEOPLE, not you, you dunce!!! Not true. Fake news! From The New York Times: Does my mask protect me if nobody else is wearing one? Masks work best when everyone in the room has one on, but you’ll still benefit from masking up even when those around you aren’t.

January 31, 20223 yr Why is it "right for democracy" to allow someone to drive a car and put me at risk just because they find walking a bit of a chore? :arrr: Walking isn’t possible at some distances. Wearing a mask is pretty much always possible.
January 31, 20223 yr Waiting for the inevitable government U turn on the NHS staff having to be vaccinated. I mean it probably makes sense in terms of staffing issues but I don't want the anti-vaxxers to feel victorious.
January 31, 20223 yr Liz Truss has tested positive for Covid (possibly the first test she has ever passed). She was sitting on the government front bench earlier without a mask.
January 31, 20223 yr Liz Truss has tested positive for Covid (possibly the first test she has ever passed). WRONG. She actually has a degree from Oxford. How many here who deride every member of the current Tory cabinet ever went there or stood any chance whatsoever of getting in there? Only 22% of applicants do each year. Sick of all the Tory name calling here. Al least get your facts right. Edited January 31, 20223 yr by cider man
