Well, that was clear as mud as expected. I'm also just gonna wait for a work email!

Wouldn't it make more sense to close all schools in a certain tier? Why would it be based on 'infection areas'?

I have no idea what's going on- going back on the 11th but not? Only year 11 and 13 for that week but still a week late...? Then all back on 18th?... So what's happening week of the 4th, online learning?

Going to have to wait for a work email to see how I'm affected it seems.

Ridiculous pressure to put headteachers under. They have 4 days to figure it out, sort it out and communicate with parents and staff. Those four days include a public holiday, a Saturday and a Sunday.

This government are f***ing morons.

Has anyone else had a text today saying that local hospitals and ambulance services are extremely busy and to only go to A&E or request an ambulance if it's absolutely necessary? We both have. As wife's just said, you'd think that's obvious. Wouldn't get me near a hospital at present. I need an X-Ray on my leg but have refused to go yet.

Worrying thing about the older population is they reckon it only gives 3 months guaranteed immunity.

That’s usual for a new vaccine tho. In 2016 I had a Hepatitis jag before going to India and they said it was a year and if I got a booster within a year I might get up to 10 maybe. When I went back in 2019 before Japan I got the booster because they said one dose was now enough for a few years and a booster meant it would last up to 25 years potentially now.

Think the Corona one will be the same. Stage 3 trails usually last years so they have a better idea of how long immunity lasts but really the stage 3 have only been a few months so it’s Right That they can’t say that it lasts beyond the data they have to avoid legal issues from overly litigious places like the US.

Im sure as we go through 2021 we will find it’s a more effective, length of time wise, that we expect but maybe we need a booster for some of them after 12-18 months.

Looks like I am back in next Monday as normal. I have so many feelings and anxieties about everything right now and today's update, I can't even fathom a full post to express this. At least I can comfort my 30 kids next week and be there for them I guess, in a totally selfless way!

If you do need to talk, you know where I am. Try not to get too close to the kids you’re comforting, though I know that’s easier said than done.

We've just gone into level 3 lockdown in South Africa again after only a month of relaxed restrictions.

Curfew 9pm-6am. Alcohol banned again right before new years  Our government for some bizarre reason has banned going to the beach, but full capacity public transport every day is still ok!!

Load shedding (timed 2-3 hour electricity outages) also conveniently reintroduced around the start of curfew time every evening :(

Many places around Yorkshire are lower or at the same level yet have been placed in Tier 4. This graph shows there’s very very few Tier 3 areas lower than some in Tier 4, with the majority on par with those I’m presuming have just been placed in Tier 4:

I believe a lot of the new tier 4 areas are due to the uptick of the new variant in those areas. So even though cases may not be that high compared to other tier 4 areas, the fact the new variant is starting to estalbish itself is reason enough to put them in tier 4 before it gets out of hand (well, it's kind of already out of hand, but you get what I mean).

London hospitals requesting help from Yorkshire. They may have to move some patients up there soon.

I believe Boris stated that schools are safe but people mixing inside schools is not safe.

MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.

Boris finally came to realisation that people are the ones spreading the virus and it cannot stay alive without a human body. Progress.

I’ve been told that the trial I am taking part in will go on for around two years. I’d like to be able to stay with it for the whole period, but I would have to drop out if I accept one of the approved vaccines.

I know that travelling in a pandemic is stupid and risky and selfish (but i wasn’t spending Christmas alone in Berlin) but I just wish BA would make a schedule and f***ing stick with it. I’ve actually lost track of the number of times they’ve cancelled one or more of the flights in my trip.

EasyJet cancelled first and so I rebooked with BA because EasyJet had a super slimline schedule and with the new variant now only have two flights between today and mid feb so looking like a smart choice to swap to BA. However. One round of cancellations (two flights) before I left the country. They cancelled the rebooked one. And then again. And then again.

One of the cancellations was because the German government shut the border for travellers from the UK. That I can forgive. The rest are scheduling decisions they’re making voluntarily at short notice leaving me wholly uncertain about when or if I will get home. I am so done with BA. Next Christmas I am flying KLM

And BA cancelled it AGAIN.

So I'm now flying business class KLM for less than the BA refund (and a cash in of my miles)

Bet you wish you had stayed in Berlin over xmas!

They're re-activating the Nightingale hospitals according to Sky News. Was only the other day I read they were dismantling them. They want to make up their minds.
Do they actually have the staff to run them though? I heard they all looked impressive but you need people to run the things or they are pointless.

The army will probably run them. I imagine they are utilising them as by all accounts it sounds like the South East & parts of London are totally f***ed.

Well they said the reason they were dismantling the largest one in Greenwich, East London a few days ago was because of not enough available staff, nurses, Dr's and ancillary staff too. They can't just drag them away from other hospitals which are extra busy at present.

Have heard from a nurse we know that our local hospital, Newham General's at breaking point today with all beds taken and A&E with very long waiting times. Worse than even at the peak last year.
