I meant exams, sorry! Yeah I expect schools will be closed for the foreseeable now.

Oh sorry. Yes it's time they made a decision about this summer's exams too.

I really hope we hear something about schools soon, I'm year 13 and while I've been able to keep up with content and haven't had to isolate at all. A lot of people around me have missed out on a lot over the last 10 months.

This is kinda off topic of this thread, but you're year 13? That would make you around 17/18 right? Heck I always thought you were a lot older than that :o no offence

I'm also glad that it appears that Boris will be closing Schools now as well. It baffles me to no end that this wasn't the plan to begin with as soon as the new Covid Variant was discovered?

Yep, I'm 18

So Wales have announced that all schools will be remote learning until the 18th January. So they’ve only tweaked things a little.

So what do you want exactly? You wanted schools closed so they will be. Do you want them closed with no remote learning or just closed for longer? Am confused now.

I didn’t realise my post that you quoted expressed any desire at all. I was literally just reporting the facts. As it stands the date of 18th was always going to be the day we were going to have a full return, it’s just now there’s no chance of a full return beforehand. I also don’t see it happening anyway, not unless there’s some drastic change in numbers over the next two weeks.

And the cheek of you to call me confusing.

What a disaster. If they had just planned around SAGE's advice weeks ago this could've all been avoided. I feel sorry for all the schools/teachers/headteachers etc.

Hopefully the vaccination effort will be ramped up pronto so we can get a large amount of people vaccinated before schools reopen/lockdown ends. If anything they should also now include teachers/school staff in the list of people being vaccinated. Perhaps a goal of getting them vaccinated before schools go back.

Certainly feels like the severity of the situation has reached new heights, with trust and goodwill through the floor.

What a mess.

So Peston has leaked it. Not a full lockdown but Tier 4 for whole of UK with schools all closed.

I don't see why this wasn't a goal in the first place, it must be easily achievable with ~500K teachers?

You could argue that shop workers need an early vaccination too then as they come in to contact with many people. How many of those are there?

And how are we supposed to pretend this is a democracy when the media and the government are just completely in bed together, and we have a state broadcaster that cheerleads the government?!

The one positive of this lockdown is that while we are locked down, the vaccine will be rolled out (hopefully) en masse. So there is some hope~~~~

Current take up down from 75% to 71%. About what was predicted really.

Whilst I agree that they should be a high priority for the vaccine, unlike teachers, they are not surrounded by multiple families for hours on end with little social distancing. Yes, they come into contact with lots of customers but they do not spend more than around five minutes with any one of them and most of the are masked and there are often lots of Perspex screens.

You seem to be very unhappy that schools are closed and at the suggestion teachers should be a priority for the vaccine. You really seem to have it in for teachers.

f*** sake, he’s actually claiming that he was beating the ‘old variant’. This clown.
He just said schools were safe again and then immediately contradicted himself.

No he said they're safe for children as Covid doesn't affect them as much, but they may pass it on to vulnerable people.
