Yeah, it would be interesting to know who holds the record for a non-charity single though.

That's Louis Armstrong, 66 years & 10 months when "What A Wonderful World" hit #1 in 1968.

(btw Tom Moore was 99 when he hit the top Steve!)

Is he 100 now?

Yeh always remember the video for Louis, weird to think he was born in 1902 when that reached number one in the 60s, long span in terms of the charts

he turned 100 while the song was still officially #1, that was the whole point of the single being released on that particular week.
I get mariah going to number 1 is what fans want but is she even breaking any records, and is it really as big a deal as people are making it out to be

Seriously. Can you think of any other songs that have spent over 100 weeks on the chart before going #1? Somebody getting a #1 20 years after their last (and 26 years after their first). You have to be trolling

Madonna was 50 when 4 Minutes reached number 1....

She was 49, a few months off 50

Wow, I had no idea he was that old even back then! I know it's unlikely but imagine if there was a campaign to get the song to #1 now, he'd be pushing 120 :o (and yes I'm aware that he's dead now lol)

Paloma Faith is clicking with me today!

I am not a fan of her , but her songs are very good

When are the Wednesday midweeks coming out?

5:45pm from MW

Possible earlier, not always guaranteed

We do have Breakdown of the week on page 1, post 1.

Wish Kylie would release a Santa Baby EP for its 20th anniversary. Stick the Infinite Disco version of Say Something on it and get Santa Baby that new chart peak! .

Looks set to just miss the top 40 this week. Maybe next week it could peak for the year

Wow a 49 year old getting a number 1 that must be a record for oldest surely :cheer: :cheer:

Oops she not even getting that

Is it really a unique record though

How old was Elton John when 'Are You Ready For Love' reached #1 in 2003?

56.

All I Want For Christmas Is You getting to #1 on its 104th week on the chart would be a record by such a distance it's without parallel - the next nearest was when Perfect reached #1 on its 30th week.

Ah right, the OCC has him as 99 on their oldest artists at #1 list

Thank you!

I knows it was something like that

I guess technically he was 99 when the chart was announced, which is why they have him as 99. It was still at #1 the day he turned 100, but it was no longer #1 on the following chart. I think that makes sense?

That track was my birthday track of 2020 :( I was really hoping for Blinding Lights to clinch it
