Moving on from Jess Glynne, I've just listened to the Taylor Swift album and... unpopular opinion alert, don't shoot me etc. but it's sooooo dreary and forgettable. I almost fell asleep halfway through. (Willow's alright though and the one with Haim is really good, I'm here for that doing something).

I would agree and folklore was boring as hell too!!

the new Taylor sound is certainly not for everybody, it's not for fans of pure pop for sure, needs an acquired good music taste :D

Maybe just people think she's rubbish. That is the most likely thing. Also that she is a complete artistic non-entity. Could be that too...wow the more it's discussed the more could bes there are...and that's before we get on to Alexa...

Listen to the lyrics in Taylor’s songs, LISTEN. Her songwriting is inimitable and second to none. That, alongside exquisite production, is why her music has and is doing so well.

 

Rolling Stone named Folklore the album of the year and Everemore is receiving phenomenal praise too.

 

The onus is on you if you can’t understand why the albums are just so damn good.

Periodic reminder that enjoyment of music is entirely subjective

 

I loved 'folklore' and prefer it to most of Taylor's poppier music but let's not act like that opinion is any more valid than people who find this new direction boring.

I don't get why so many people have such extreme views about Jess. Her personality might not be the most charismatic (watching cardboard? really??) but that's no worse than a lot of other celebs. And as for her music, again it might not be to everyone's taste but she's clearly popular with all those number ones, and it's certainly no worse than a lot of other chart dance music. What's with all the hate?

 

Probably because she’s an easy target and doesn’t have any stans on here so no one really responds when Buzzjack go on a pile on. There’s no outrage or arguments like other artists would get. Personally, I quite like Jess’s music in a fun and throwaway kind of way. I’m not looking for the reinvention of music when I listen to Jess, just some catchy tunes and she delivers on that. I guess another reason is that she has had that many no.1s when so many Buzzjack female faves haven’t so there’s an annoyance there too.
