Afternoon all! As always, NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

Though Mariah will always have my favourite Christmas song, I'm hoping for a Wham! #1 today - would be a very well deserved chart topper!

Remember the chart's on until 6pm tonight as well - 15 more minutes!

Afternoon all, can actually be here for this today :cheer:

Retro top 3s:

2020

01. Billie Eilish - everything i wanted

02. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

03. Selena Gomez - Lose You To Love Me

Seeing 2020 as 1 year ago is going to take some getting used to :kink: Billie's song was my first personal chart #1 of last year, glad it clicked with the public so much  Dua killed it with every single choice this era and the Selena song was a lovely surprise, one of my favourite singles by her.

2016

01. Justin Bieber - Sorry

02. Sigala feat. Bryn Christopher - Sweet Lovin'

03. Coldplay - Adventure of a Lifetime

Five years now since my first year of University was in full swing :drama: Bieber was on fire around this time, the Sigala single a massive surprise step up after I didn't like 'Easy Love' and a great start to that Coldplay era.

2011

01. Take That - The Flood

02. Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name?

03. Far East Movement feat. Cataracts & Dev - Like A G6

Honourable mentions to Katy and Olly - finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that my JadeGagaOlly era was 10 years ago x

2006

01. Madonna - Hung Up

02. The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

03. Girls Aloud - See The Day

It took me years to find out that 'See The Day' was a cover so I'd already formed an appreciation of it before even knowing that, a bit underrated from them.

2001

01. Eminem - Stan (feat. Dido)

02. LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight

03. Britney Spears - Stronger

I always had trouble deciding if I preferred 'Stan' or 'Lose Yourself' but I think I do prefer the former nowadays <3

Any chance Radio 1 can swap this weeks chart for the 2000 one? I know Bob The Builder's Number 1 but I can live with that to hear that great chart again.
Surely Buble WON'T be #1 on album chart...

To be fair, we've had a whopping one midweek update this week to go off, with no sales info...!! :P

No missed the top 40 songs this week, they'll be back next week (probably)

Here's to hoping Miley has risen a lot on the singles and album charts. Rooting for Wham! to be #1 as well!

Come on Wham. Ch.5 did a poll for best 80's song and Last Christmas won which astonished viewers and experts alike. Shows it's popularity.

Oh yes I watched this the other night! No Madonna at all in the countdown was a shock also :o

This chart will be interesting

Interesting as in 'interesting battle at the top' or interesting as in 'interesting listening to Radio 1 having to play mostly Christmas music for two hours on the 1st January when they could have just binned it and had a Top 40 of the year on instead' ?

Here info today 2 that done chart

Alex West & Numi Gildert sit in for Scott, to count down to the UK's Official No.1 on their first ever Radio 1 show.

Alex and Numi join forces to present The Official Chart as part of Radio 1's Christmas Presenters for 2020 - a week of new presenting talent taking over the schedule. The pair hail from Reading and Macclesfield respectively and are now both based in London.

They both earned their radio stripes presenting on University Radio York, where Numi (aged 26) recently submitted a PhD thesis in robotics, and Alex spends time in uni iamspamspamami dancing to The Prodigy’s ‘Firestarter’.

Numi: "Honestly I can’t believe it but I am absolutely honoured and so thankful to Radio 1 for this opportunity. I’m so excited to get back behind the mics with Alex and have a blast!"

Alex: "Being able to present on Radio 1 still feels like a dream, I'm bouncing off the walls and my imposter syndrome is through the roof right now... 2020 has been a bit rubbish, hasn't it - so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and kicking off 2021 in the best way possible, alongside one of my closest mates!”

Oh yes I watched this the other night! No Madonna at all in the countdown was a shock also :o

No I was shocked. Was waiting for Like A Prayer to pop up. Some placings were surprising. Saw the repeat last night.

Edited by common sense

I'm hoping it's the chart of the year today instead because I'd rather listen to the best songs of the year rather than Christmas songs.
