With Jesy gone, Little Mix are still going strong as a trio, claiming the first #1 of 2021 yesterday.

With that being said, what's next for them? What would you like to see?

I didn't see a thread that specifically discussed their future as a Trio, the Jesy thread is.. well for Jesy and this isn't really "off-topic".

I feel like their music going forward is going to have a lot of involvement from them, these three together tend to write a lot and I feel like these three are also a proper force. Just a note- Jesy was my fav, and will always be my fav, so I'm not slandering her- but it was no secret that when they were in America or touring globally, she got homesick a lot. She didn't like branching out towards the end (not that I could blame her) and with her now leaving, it feels like Little Mix may have a bigger shot at reclaiming a more global title as they can now do promotion gigs in other countries. Subject to lockdown lmao

There's already confirmed music coming in the Spring- what are we hoping for? Break-Up Song level pop or a more darker edge?

The Jonathan Ross performance was everything I personally needed from them!

They need to ditch the cutesy bubblegum pop sound and image for singles..

I think those should be kept for the album.

I love bubblegum pop but I really don’t think they go down well with streaming at all.

Would love for them to have a darker edge definitely, as much as I love the pure poppy Break Up Song, I much prefer their dancier tracks like Sweet Melody. Would be nice to see them experiment, would like a Sexy No No No type song from them ala Girls Aloud as I feel that song was ahead of its time and underrated.

Agree 100%

We need a full Dark Mix album!

What happened to them being in the Little Shop of Horrors remake? Now they're a 3 piece they could deffo be the Greek Chorus.

I'm sure the Little Shop rumour wasn't confirmed?

Also, considering the Greek Chorus is traditionally played by black women I don't want to see Perrie / Jade taking roles that aren't for them. I definitely want to see Perrie in a musical at one point though!!

re: music, I don't get the obsession with wanting Dark Mix? I get that its sexy and fun but Little Mix are at their best when it's full on pop, and full on pop doesn't mean bubblegum, in fact I'll go one step further and say that there has been no bubblegum pop from Little Mix since "Oops / You Gotta Not". Pop can be mature and impactful without it having to be edgy and dark.

I'd like them to hone in a proper sound, being versatile has sorta hurt them, cause we haven't had that one solid pop album from them where it's flawless start to finish (few ever are from other artist's lol but) DNA was.. a debut and a bit of a mess, Salute had the sonical cohesion but lacked commitment and confidence, Get Weird was.. odd. A lot of filler but full of personality and confidence. Glory Days had bits of filler, but came so close. LM5 too, very cohesive for the most part but boring filler tracks let it down and Confetti has a few odd tracks that didn't quite make the cut (and was ordered horribly), although Confetti was always labelled as a collection of pop songs, rather than a start to finish album.

They could make a super solid album relating to their experiences in the industry. Not sure why it hasn't happened yet smh.

Okay! You're hired!!

I would love them to go all Destiny's Child on our asses.

They went ‘dark’ and ‘mature’ with Salute and LM5 and it took bubble gum like Black Magic and Break Up Song to save their careers.

If they go down the dark path AGAIN they’ll underperform like those occasions.

I'd love it if they could do more of a thematic album which has been thoroughly thought through, just like Dua, Ariana and Taylor have with their recent projects. I feel like most of their albums are just collections of tracks rather than ones which specifically sound good together.
Pop can be mature and impactful without it having to be edgy and dark.

Okay you also make very good points.... after all it was Pop that made me fall in love with the girls so...

They shine the most, both with fans and the general public, with songs like Touch and Sweet Melody. So basically just hire MNEK full-time and make a whole album of that!

When I say Dark Mix I mean more the visuals...

Sweet Melody is just PERFECT!

I’m talking about songs like Not A Pop Song which to me is bubblegum pop in terms of the Lyrics, I just hate it!

BUS and Holiday struggled too, I know Both sold well but streaming wise they did struggle to get a good peak and stay there.

I think Sweet Melody is a perfect guide map for what they should be doing in the future. It’s pop and it’s fun but it’s not riddled with cheesy/cringe lyrics and the video features them doing what they do best. The Little Mix from the DNA era would have never made that video and that’s what we need. They need to continue making music for their actual age group instead of the age group they originally appealed to because that age group doesn’t even like that sound anymore.

Yes definitely more music in the realm of Sweet Melody!

I'd love more of a 'grown up' sound like they've been doing with the Confetti album! (minus NAPS).

However saying the above I love everything they put out! I'm just so excited to see what this trio bring

Their first official single as a trio NEEDS to be an absolute HIT to solidify their status even more!

They should go for more mature pop, I was saying that when they were a four piece act too. If we are comparing with Girls Aloud then not a Sexy No No type track but an Untouchable/The Loving Kind track would be brilliant from them.

I think they should stick with 'Sweet Melody'/'Confetti'/'Happiness' type tracks. They're a lot more mature (and have been received amazingly well!) but still have that quintessential LM vibe and playfulness to them and I genuinely think losing a member is the perfect time to "rebrand" into that side of things so that they're not needing to be so reliable on the pure pop songs like 'Black Magic', 'Shout Out to My Ex' etc.. (as much as I love those!)

I think 'Sweet Melody' being the huge success it has been will give them that confidence to pursue it further at least.

I also believe, they will be fine as a trio for a bit tbh... does anyone else think that too?

I think it's worth noting that the one person who often advocated for a sexier, dancier, darker side of Little Mix was Jesy. :(

Jade/Perrie/Leigh wrote some of their most-poppier songs on the album like Break-Up Song, Holiday & A Mess.. so that appears to be the direction. However, I do agree w/you guys that Sweet Melody's success may push them into the direction of that desired sound.

What I would really love for them to do is make a pop-garage-house inspired album that's completely dripping in 90s dance music.

Working primarily with MNEK and other Garage producers in the UK, maybe even BloodPop (lol as if)

Imagine a song like Happiness but with a "Sine From Above" euphoric breakdown. We could even get another Stormzy collab, too.

I had my doubts about them being a Trio but I genuinely think if they churn out more hits like Sweet Melody which are successful they will carry Little Mix on..

I think SM getting to #1 has really given the girls a boost they seem so excited about LM and the fans again.

I go back to the JR performance EVERYTIME it's just INCREDIBLE and shows what they can do as a trio.

I think they will be very successful as a trio.

It pains me to say it, but I do think they will do more things now - be more in our faces, travel more, awards shows etc. I don't know why, but I always felt Jesy not wanting to do things (for whatever valid reason she had) may have stopped them doing more stuff.

I feel bad for thinking that way, but these 3 were always the ones that were game for a laugh, happy to go with it and always present / on it.

Their first single needs to be a solo, no feature and especially no female feature!
