Anything to win but Someone Like You, Telephone or Uptown Funk pls!

Not that it’s awful and Im generally a Gaga fan but out of that top 10 ‘Telephone” definitely feels like it doesn’t deserve a top 10 place. Others definitely feel like they should both un quality or at least cultural impact.

I was thinking the same, but I checked the results of last year's Record of the Decade (not necessarily an indicator of how this will turn out - the votership is different for one), and it was the 4th highest song which remains in this rate (and the 6th highest #1 overall, also behind Don't You Worry Child and Shallow).

 

Meanwhile, another of the top 10 here didn't make the RotD final 100 (or even the semis, as it didn't make the top 20 of its year), on that particular occasion at least.

You wait so long for all my top pointers to get knocked out, and then almost all of them do at once :lol: :'( Still, glad most of them finished top 20. Don't You Worry Child and Feel the Love are still such anthemic, inspiring songs with some great memories, almost a decade on, they haven't tired at all. Mirrors and Shallow were both incredible moments for two prolific artists, Paradise getting number 1 for Coldplay was a great moment and it's held up as one of their most anthemic songs and Prayer in C is such an incredibly written and different number 1 that stands out so much, I know it benefitted from big name power of the remixer, but it still was a great moment and one of many great number 1s of 2014.

 

I can't argue at all with the top 10 though, they all seem very worthy!

No 1 for 7 weeks in December 2014/January 2015- With a release date brought forward due to an X Factor cover by Fleur East. You still love it apparently with Chrissmith276 giving it 30 points helping to make it Buzzjack’s 2nd favourite chart topper of 2014.

Very solid top 10! I think We Found Love is the most likely winner of the ones left but we'll see

 

outside of that- Hideaway, Feel The Love, Mirrors and Don't You Worry Child are all iconic chart toppers :heart:

I think We Found Love will win as well.

We Found Love finished 3rd in RotD behind Into You / Dancing On My Own so that winning seems the most logical. The rest of the contenders being..

We Are Young (47th)

Rather Be (57th - however this was an oddly low position given previous performance, it was 22nd the previous year)

Would happily have exchanged the first two in this top 10 for virtually anything between 11-20!

Uptown Funk is the song I referred to that didn't make the RotD semis last year. I know a lot of people got sick of it, but perhaps it's a similar reason that there's now nothing left after 2014, as all the best songs have been hit by the dreaded overplay.

 

Somebody That I Used To Know may or may not be my 30 pointer, but I'm backing it for the win.

Very glad King made it into the Top 10! Although as much as I love King, had Shine made it to #1 it might have been my 30 pointer.

Rooting for Gotye

Get Lucky is my favourite of the remainder and Someone Like You my least favourite, but whatever happens it’s been fun. :)

I'd love for Gotye or Daft Punk to win but I think realistically it's probably Calvin & Rihanna's to lose. Which I wouldn't object to either as it's definitely a strong song, I can't remember if I voted for it or not but it was definitely one in contention.

 

 

I'm really surprised that We Are Young has finished this high.

Was just thinking that 8 of the top 9 are pure million sellers, the exception being Telephone which I love but definitely feels smaller than the others. Uptown Funk must be the latest released song to do a million pure sales - will there ever be another!?
