And now Madonna's luck has run out as she is eliminated in sixth place with her cover of Don McLean's 1971 hit 'American Pie'. Madge's version was released 29 years after McLean's original and became yet another chart topper in the UK for the Queen of Pop - becoming her 9th number one single! In the US, however, the single wasn't as successful and only reached a peak of #29. Personally, the song sits firmly in the camp of her worst singles. Just a pointless cover in my humble opinion.

Gone with Kanye but I actually LOVE this whole top 5! Probably the best top 5 we’ve had with nothing ridiculously going out in the first two rounds.
Kanye's time. Bye please!
I think I said before that I'd vote for Kanye once Madonna was gone - I must have overlooked 'Broken Strings' on the list, which I am also not a fan of oops. But still, I'd normally be very happy that a Kanye song made te top 5 in one of these, a shame it just happens to be with one of his worst songs ~
