First out:

Released as the second single from 'I'm Breathless', Madonna's soundtrack album the song went on to peak at #10 in the US but faired better in the UK where it reached the #2 spot. It debuted at number 14 on the UK Chart and after two weeks, reached its peak of number two. It was blocked off the top spot by Partners in Kryme's "Turtle Power".

We also lose:

Britney's lead single for album In The Zone debuted at #2 in the UK, and was blocked off the top spot by Busted's "Crashed the Wedding". In the US it became Madonna's 50th chart hit and also debuted 20 years after her first!

I've gone for Hollywood and Material Girl. The latter is pretty iconic I guess but I don't revisit it often at all compared to the others on the list.

I’ll Remember- lovely song but i don't play it a lot.

Hollywood

I'm sticking with Beautiful Stranger and adding Hollywood to the pot!

Why do people dislike Causing a Commotion so much? I love it!!

The Blond Ambition performance puts it head and shoulders over half the list on its own!!

I've gone with 'Material Girl' and, probably controversially, 'Borderline'.

FROM THE MOD?

GET OUT!

I COME WITH A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

LIAMK HAS NOT ONLY BEEN DEMOTED AS MODERATOR OF THE MADONNA FORUM, HE WILL ALSO BE BANNED FROM HERE :o

We would like to thank him for his work but not for his opinions on 'Borderline' xoxo

I would have to say Hollywood and Causing a Commotion .

Oops. :kink: IN MY DEFENSE it was a very close decision between a few songs and 'Borderline' was unfortunately the one I've returned to the least recently, plus if I were to be picky then the vocal pitching is a tad grating.

I'm acting in the spirit of the song that's currently sitting in the lead with SEVEN votes.

:heehee: Only messing but I am more shocked by it because I feel like I should have known your thoughts before this, so my bad! The vocal pitching is what makes it so whimsically nostalgic and retro for me; it's a great example of how not being perfect is actually a good thing because the fact it isn't over-produced or refined makes it more honest and raw for me if that makes sense.

I mean I don't think the song will be leaving any time soon, so not panicking yet but it's genuinely in my top 3 for this series alongside the Ray of Light era singles!

It's still like an 8/10 for me, it's beautiful song in terms of melody and lyrics for sure! I'd have picked something else a few months back and would probably a few months down the line.
