#171-#174:

174. Crazier [Avg. 6.21]
173. Both Of Us [Avg. 6.24]
172. Sad Beautiful Tragic [Avg. 6.29]
171. Babe [Avg. 6.32] Less 10s

So, the non-album singles have really taken a hit in this section, with 3 more departing. We also have the first departure for a song from Red.

First we have Crazier at 174, which featured in the Hannah Montana movie back in 2009. Next at 173, we have another non-album single - Both Of Us - in which Taylor featured for rapper B.o.B. The first casualty from Red is Sad Beautiful Tragic, which I personally feel is the weakest song on the album and a good choice to leave first. At 171, Taylor’s vocals feature on Sugarland’s single Babe.

Despite their early departure, some of these songs are clearly loved by those who gave them 10s.
Crazier received a 10 from DionTheStats123, Both Of Us received a 10 from Tafty and Sad Beautiful Tragic received a 10 from John-James. Babe did not receive any 10s. The lowest score in this section was a number 2 given to Both of Us by Blacksquare - ouch!

I think it's all right now :cheer:

Now all I need to learn how to do is to write in colour, change font size etc etc etc....

I have to say, with regards to the songs that have left so far, I'm really not too unhappy about any of them leaving.

It was the vocals on last Christmas that grated on me!

Agreed, I think it's the worst track on the Christmas EP, and perhaps her worst vocal performance in any song (although it's pretty blah throughout the whole EP!) :drama:

Babe is a bit lower than I thought it would be :o I only gave it 7.5 but I found it to be one of her better extra songs.

Sad Tragic being the first album track out is v. fitting. :cheer:

Babe deserved better & be like 50 places higher (same with Crazier too, even if I barely ever return to it now), issa bop!! Hope we get a Taylor solo version on Red Re-Recordings. Both of Us is meh. So is Highway Don't Care. the You Need to Calm Down Clean Bandit remix (which was 80th) is HORRIFIC. One of Taylor's worst remixes ever. I remember I was hyped to hear it & then wanted to unheard it immediately.

Beautiful Ghosts   what an underrated GEM. A grammy nominated gem I might say x I actually love the song so much and its a stunning musical number in a f***ing horrific film. Next time I'm including Macavity in the rate as revenge for this. then y'all really will suffer x

poor Last Christmas too  Wham could never do what Taylor does with this song. Whew, iconic. Lowkey play it a ridiculously amount each Xmas

I think you’ve all perhaps made me realise that if I could separate Beautiful Ghosts from that horrific film, I might appreciate it more.

Hmmm...

I'm gonna guess 'ME!' is out in the next batch. It's either that or 'Tim McGraw' I reckon.. possibly both?

Going to guess 'Tim McGraw'!

'Crazier' is probably my biggest loss so far and that's mainly due to Hannah Montana: The Movie nostalgia

166. SuperStar [Avg. 6.42]
167. Tied Together With A Smile [Avg. 6.39]
168. Treacherous (Demo) [Avg. 6.36]
169. A Perfectly Good Heart [Avg. 6.33]
170. Me! (ft. Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco!) [Avg. 6.32 (More 10's)]

Yep.

Finishing below EVERY SINGLE ALBUM TRACK ON SELFTITLED & FEARLESS is Lover's infamous lead single. It's actually the 2nd worst performing song in the entire rate to appear on one of Taylor's NINE albums. And it only avoided last in that by 0.03. And this is for a LEAD SINGLE!! yikes x

Anyway you know what, y'all do the most on Me! Yes it should have never, ever, ever been the lead single (Cruel Summer, Lover, I Think He Knows, The Man etc all say hi) and it nearly ruined all the hype we'd had on our way to the TS7 lead single. This probably would've smashed in 2013/2014 but it was exactly not what we were needing or wanting as a lead in 2019. It was also pretty frontloaded despite a strong first week but it was a solid enough hit. But honestly this song is such a BOP. I high-key love it. It's just such a fun & carefree bop, the verses are catchy af, the music video is FABULOUS (one of her best MV's ever, I still go back to it nowadays, its so beautiful & the visuals whew & outfits *.*) and this song just really gets me feeling good whenever I hear it. Also 'hey kids spelling is fun' is BEYOND ICONIC (despite nearly wrecking her songwriting reputation) and lowkey wish it was kept in the song, though at least I have it on the version I bought on iTunes *.* It's in my top half of Lover and I think I'd acc have it top 100 here so I'm gutted it fell so low :(

Me! actually received a 10 (from Joseph *.*), three 9.5's (including myself) & three 9's!! Way more high scores than anything else that's fallen out yet. On the other hand, it's the only song in the entire rate to receive more than -1 (and considering like 5 we're given out in total, yikes) and more average/low scores brings it all the way down here.

As y'all know we had a slight mix up earlier so here is the commentary London prepped for Me!:
And then at 170, we have perhaps the most disliked album single. On its release, the song actually did quite well commercially, peaking at number three in the U.K. However, I think it is the simplicity of the lyrics, especially when we know just how well Taylor can write and with such depth, is something which harcore Taylor fans just can’t abide! In saying that though, I actually don’t think it deserves to be as low as this, but I also gave Silent Night an 8 so what do I know…

Apart from me!ssT disastrous flopping, there's not much to say about this section, with it consisting of basically getting rid of the filler remaining. We lose our first two tracks from self-titled here as A Perfectly Good Heart & Tied Together With A Smile drop out. Both nice songs, both songs I barely ever go back to unless I'm doing a full discography lisenthrough so no major loss. We also lose another Red track, this time in the form of the bonus edition as the demo version of Treacherous drops outs. The original is way better & packs a way stronger punch so no loss seeing this out here. We also lose the first track from Fearless as one of the Fearless' deluxe filler tracks (SuperStar) goes out, which is possibly one of the biggest filler tracks in Taylor's entire discography. SuperStar got a couple higher scores (9/9.5) but apart from that all 4 of these tracks basically just got rates between 4 and 8 so its no surprise to see them all gone here.

Going to guess 'Tim McGraw'!

And for this hint it's Jonjo getting it right! Tim McGraw lives to fight another day :o

All will be revealed by me today or tomorrow!

There were 3 major hints in here!!

First of all, First was capitalised to give y'all a hint that this was a lead single going out!! (which I think the 2 of y'all that guessed got, and thx so much for acc getting involved!!!)

next, there are a hell of a lot of SPELLING MISTAKES in the 2nd line! (and also in the 3rd line though that one was acc accidental ). And as we know kids, SPELLING IS FUN x

And third of all, both me & the exclamation mark were used in the last line x

The whole "Lover" era was a mess with questionable single choices, too long or too short gaps between releases & just all-round wasted potential, which is a shame as this album had some amazing tracks that were passed over in favour of the awful lead 'Me', which had no business being a single, let alone the lead.

Here's how the "Lover" era should have went =

Cruel Summer [single #1]
Easily one of the strongest tracks from the album & would have been an instant Taylor classic with its stellar production, stunning yet unique vocals & catchy fast-paced lyrics that wouldn't go out of place on '1989', yet shows maturity & would have acted as a better bridge from the dark tones of her 'Reputation' album. This WOULD have not only been a far bigger hit than 'Me', but had more longevity on the charts & created far better hype of her new direction.

You Need To Calm Down [single #2]
Still would have kept this as the 2nd single as this does have an important positive message to tell, while 'CS' detailed her own experiences with her turbulent life, this is again personal, yet political at the same time & yes it really divided opinions, you still can't deny that catchy as hell chorus & eye catching music video. Plus this did perform very well upon release.

The Man [single #3]
Releasing this just before the album would have been a far smarter move instead of an X-Mas type ballad in the summer. A synthetic dance track with an important and poignant tale of the sexist nature of the music industry is far better suited for the summer instead of in the new year, several months after the album came out. This easily could have been another chart smash hit. Top 5 on both sides of the Atlantic. Plus still keep the stunning & wonderful 'The Archer' as a promo single.

Lover [single #4] (X-Mas release)
This would have been far better suited for the X-Mas market of the same year & still kept momentum into the new year. A stunning stripped back passionate number that's easily the best track on the album & could've showed a different side to this era after 3 up-tempo bops.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince [single #5] (Final official single)
A great way to end the era into the new year with this subtle take on social commentary with compelling production & sharp lyrics. Don't think this would have been a smash hit or anything, but would have closed this chapter on a better note. Plus have 'Soon You'll Get Better' as a final promo single for the American Country Radio.
