Let’s talk about live experiences! What are your memories of seeing a live Steps concert and what songs did they perform when you were there?

If you haven’t seen them live before, which is regrettably the case for me, what songs would you love to hear performed?

I have seen them live, quite a few times now

Unfortunately I never got to see them during their 1997-2001 hey day, but I didn't see any concerts when I was a child! The first one I went to was a Sugababes concert in 2006, when I was 18

So my first moment seeing Steps was their first comeback, on The Ultimate Tour (in Birmingham, 25th April 2012). I remember having such a great time - it was so nostalgic! They had been inactive for 10 years, and I hadn't really anticipated that they'd ever get back together considering how acrimonious it was, but they're proof that time is a healer. It just felt great to have the opportunity to see them, and at that point I viewed it as possibly being the only chance to get to see them. A highlight of this show was their Better the Devil You Know/Judas mash-up! I could have done without the solo moments though, which took up quite a chunk of the overall show. However Lisa's section was iconic, of course... Top 10 hit Lately getting the arena performance it always deserved *_*

The next occasion was The Party on the Dancefloor tour (in Birmingham, 1st December 2017). This show blew the previous one out of the water! The production, the staging, Steps themselves (vocally and stage presence)... just so much more polished. I've been to over 60 concerts, and this one is definitely up there as one of my overall favourites. It was another trip down memory lane (a lot of focus was on the big hits - and Love U More!!) but a few Tears album songs were highlight moments for me, particularly Neon Blue. This tour made me enjoy 5,6,7,8 more than I ever did before (it was never a favourite of mine, but they truly went to town with this performance and it was so much fun). The show culminated with an incredible performance of Tragedy, the best they'd ever done it.

That show was so good that I had to see them again at The Summer of Steps (in Llanelli, Wales, 3rd June 2018 - two of the friends I went with live in Wales). Given that this was a summer tour of various sports stadiums, it wasn't as great as the arena tour setting, but still great fun to see them. They slightly struggled to sell tickets for this particular tour (they ended up being quite cheap on Groupon). I was in the Gold circle and ended up paying 3 times as much as some other people did (£60 vs £20) which was gutting. The Gold Circle was something of a hen party crowd, lots of very drunk people, which for me isn't the best atmosphere when I'm sober and wanting to enjoy and focus on Steps... but overall I still had a great time.

Now I have to keep my fingers crossed that their November/December 2020 tour can go ahead. I have tickets for the 5th November show in Birmingham! It's going to be interesting to see how they manage to balance the hits and the newer material. Personally I'd love to her more Tears and Future era songs, but I know they have to keep in mind that the casuals are mainly there for the big hits...

Yes, twice. On the 2012 Ultimate Tour and on the Party On The Dancefloor tour in 2017. The latter was absolutely stunning, the new versions of the old songs, Steps' performances and vocals, the song choices, and the staging were so great.

In 2017 at the O2.

I thought they were so brilliant, I loved how they were comfortable and natural doing their thing as an "adult" band and just putting on a fantastic show. The highlights were the PVC nurses/beds for 'Chain Reaction' and partnering Ian with a sam-sex dancer for ITWYMMF!

I have seen them live 4 times.

First time I saw them was on the Gold Tour in 2002 at the MEN Arena, I was about 11/12. I remember enjoying it but it's not totally clear tbh it's that long ago, I do remember H doing a cover of Cher's believe which at the time I thought was amazing but I'm sure that now I'd probably think it was shit    I also remember absolutely loving The way you make me feel performance and being livid that they did not perform Better Best Forgotten!

Second time was on their Ultimate Steps tour in Sheffield in 2012 (ten years later). I really enjoyed this tour purely for the nostalgia of it (and for Lee's solo performance phwoaaarrr), however my husband who came with me wasn't impressed he said it was very amateur... which looking back now I can kind of see what he meant. The solo sections were totally not needed at all, at a push Lisa got away with hers with it actually being a single and then H & Claire could have done DJ as a duet (although the others may not have looked too kindly on that).

Third tour was the Party on the Dancefloor Tour in Leeds in 2017. This is by far my FAVOURITE of all the tours and in the top 5 concerts I have ever seen! What an absolute ball from start to finish! I loved the honouring of so many iconic singles and also the new material fit in so well and were some highlights of the show the album tracks Happy and No more tears on the dancefloor were superbly done, as were the singles I absolutely loved Story of a heart with the dancers dressed in iconic steps costumes in the background doing the dance routines made me feel quite teary. The only plus would have been having Say you'll be mine included. The concert as a whole though was so polished and slick!

Fourth tour was the Summer of Steps tour which I saw in Scarborough in 2018. Again I found this concert amazing it was so different to the POTD tour it was more chilled and laid back. I drove there with my husband after work on the Friday and my friend who I used to work with (who is originally from Scarbrough and has since moved back) was also at the concert. We met up in the standing area and it was just such a lovely fun show. We then made a weekend of it and stayed in Scarborough until the Sunday (Scarbrough is a seaside town) and had such a lovely time. We were very lucky with the lovely warm weather and it was such a lovely experience. This is probably my favourite concert just for that reason alone (plus they did Say you'll be mine yay).

Fifth tour will be What the future holds in Leeds in 2021 fingers crossed!

In 2017 at the O2.

And for Tragedy with the two grooms I was so happy they did!

I've seen them twice and live both were amazing experiences that I thoroughly enjoyed

I went to the Party On The Dancefloor tour and their Summer of Steps tour.

Like some others have said, the POTD had much better staging and production but both were great experiences.

The support acts have been really good also with Vengaboys and then Blue and Saara Aalto.

I'm sad they haven't performed Light Up The World on their last two tours but hopefully they will on the next (which I have a ticket for) but with two new albums of material, maybe not. I won't give up hope though.

Also I would really like to see H and Claire (or maybe all of them) do DJ.

I've been to an uncountable amount of gigs in my time, but Party on the Dancefloor was one of my favourite pop shows ever. It was such a triumph, it totally floored me.

The vocals were outstanding and Steve's new mixes of the old classics were the best they've ever sounded.

I'll forever be sad we never got the studio version of Love U More 2017.

2 times so far, first time was the Party On The dance floor tour and 2nd time the summer of steps tour so both of their most recents, and I’m booked in for What the future holds tour in Newcastle.

Honestly I was only ever a casual fan of them in 90s/early 00s and I wouldn’t have wanted to see them mime like they used to. When I went to the POTDF tour I was blown away they were great vocally and stage wise and just keep getting better with age ! Can’t wait to (hopefully) see them again later this year !
