May 25, 20214 yr Ah, I thought you were just not counting it because it had pretty minimal lyrics :magic:

May 25, 20214 yr So no Tuesday sale information at all I guess? As always this isn't guaranteed and would be posted if we had it
May 25, 20214 yr If this OCC article is right (and according to some of the comments it looks like it might be missing a few), the last one to go top 40 in presumably non-translated form might be as far back as 1978 with Israel's winning entry A-Ba-Ni-Bi by Izhar Cohen & The Alphabeta which is in Hebrew. Update - after listening to a chart recording from the time it turns out there was an English version of that too! :o This means the last one (again, unless any were missing from the list) would be Monaco's winner Un banc, un arbre, une rue by Séverine in 1971! That definitely does count as even then it was played in French.

May 25, 20214 yr A big update for Gary Numan after only adding 600 units on Monday (guessing it's some slightly delayed reporting from some platform or another). Hope that he'll be able to hit 20k.
May 25, 20214 yr I hope Tom Zanetti can overtake Dua Lipa and re-peak and also for Olivia to extend her lead from Russ & Tion
May 25, 20214 yr who knew Gary Numan had so many fans still in 2021? already done enough to have been #1 in 10 weeks of this year so far. :o
May 25, 20214 yr G'won Gary Numan *.* I really like what I've heard from the album, especially the title track! Great for Olivia too of course.
May 25, 20214 yr I've heard it once and I was surprised at how much I wasn't hating it tbh. It's pretty decent. But Gary still has that fanbase that will buy every copy of every version at least once (literally what someone did on Friday on my last day at work for the week  - and they bought the 2 copies of his picture disc vinyl that we had) I wonder how much the sales of both Olivia and especially Twenty One Pilots (who seem to be one of the constant sellers on vinyl for us) would have been boosted by a vinyl release? I could definitely see TOP much closer to 20k rn tbh and above Gary. A shame :(
May 25, 20214 yr Yeh the title track got to my PC top 20 which I never thought I would see in 2021 but it’s really great so class to see him hitting 20k by Friday which would be an amazing score. Also Olivia looking on for 40k which is stunning and more importantly streaming will be high for her over the summer so could be a decent seller by the end of year. Also at the top 4 looking likely to be breaking 10k!!
May 25, 20214 yr Numan's sales figures are excellent. He must be one of the few artists who have increased sales of studio albums over the past 10 years. I guess the trend is going in the opposite direction. Gary does have a hard-core following but as a fan myself I think a lot of the credit for the new interest in him and his music must go to his producer Ade Fenton. He is the one who has made his music relevant again.
May 25, 20214 yr 8 new entries in the top 40 is rare assuming they all stay here. Never heard of Dream but it’s pretty good. Nice to get more indie-ish music in the top 40.
May 25, 20214 yr Wondering if it's possible 'SOUR' could finally end the streak of albums only spending one week at #1 - there doesn't appear to be any particularly huge new releases next week (guessing easy life are likely to be the highest new entry but Olivia's streaming numbers are showing no sign of slowing down yet, can easily see her second week numbers being more than enough to beat them).

Texas have an album out on Friday so maybe they could be a challenge

I was wondering the same thing actually. I'd say there's a very good chance! (Although I don't know much about that Lana album that's coming out on Monday 1st, could that throw a spanner in the works?) Edited May 25, 20214 yr by Mangø
May 25, 20214 yr I can see Easy Life reaching 20k next week with the amount of bundles they have + if they push for #1.
