It was always the main aim when 25th anniversary plans were being discussed. The singles chart absolutely depends on playlisting and when discussions were starting no one new where we would be by Wannabe anniversary covid wise.

 

Wannabe ended up being more than planned (I'm talking universal here not the girls) as they saw the demand for a physical release for it too.

 

Very few artists celebrate a single release these days but album anniversaries are big business. All acts are getting in on it as a chance to push loads of formats to fans. Even Gaga is doing celebrations for 10 years of Born This Way with a vinyl release. Sugababes have multiple formats of their debut album that wasn't even that great a seller back in the day.

 

Pretty much every Abba, Prince, Bowie etc album gets anniversary editions these days.

 

 

I doubt it will but I'd love it if Spiceworld got some recognition too! It's still the second biggest girlband of all time...

It's only someone I know connected and it's not like they blab everything. They just let me know things that are being discussed or outlines of plans. I only tell you as I think it's nice to know you might get certain things.

Imagine being the biggest girl group ever but never once doing a proper world tour or commit to anything apart from those two years. To be honest they deserve to be dethroned by those young ones who are more committed. I can wait as long as it takes but they need to do something properly when this pandemic is over.

I SWEAR if one of them so much released a solo album or a f***ing new style of baby nappies anywhere NEAR the tour, I will never forgive them. f***ing focus on the band for once jesus... Show up, commit to it. Barely turning up for 1 day of interviews and the 3 weeks of tour rehearsals is just wrong and no excuses for that.

I think us fans should, once again, realise that they don't owe us ANYTHING. They are their own people who makes their own choices and decisions and yes, we can be disappointment if they don't tour anymore (myself included) but in the end it's up to them. They have had a fantastic career, achieved more than any of them could dream of and have a place in pop history which not a lot of acts can say. So all this talk about "they need to commit, they should do this, they shouldn't do that" is frankly speaking quite strange.

I don't care. I never said they OWES US anything. This is clearly how they prefer to do things - group is mainly for cash, solo is priority. Just bored with it all at a stage where I am very close to not support their solo endeavours anymore (which have been pish for years anyway)...

None of the girls was even at Emma’s wedding yet backing dancers were.

I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No one can force them to do anything, it's really up to them. Their 2.5 year of hard work won't last forever, there are other groups who put more effort and dedication for their fans and time is on their side. The streaming is growing everyday so at one point in the future they'll be dethroned and rightfully so. It won't be a waste, the work these young groups have been doing. The lack of commitment and touring are also reasons why they're not well-respected. Once their brand is crumbling, it will affect their solos as well. But it is what it is.

If Spice 25 has unreleased tracks, I'm sure universal will exceed their own expectations. And on that note, if universal monitors Spice Circle ... That seems like the easiest way for fans to state which unreleased tracks we want to buy. :yahoo:

Hm, maybe Spice 25 will have Feed Your Love, Likely Stories, Step To Me, and a bunch of demo versions of some of the album tracks? Don't get me wrong, I'd love if WOMAN and the other 1998/1999 tracks landed on Spice 25, but, without really knowing what Melanie C and Biff mean by them "going into the archives" -- it's all just speculation I guess. I'm sure the clamouring for WOMAN has been clear on Spice Circle, and if the label is monitoring it, all we can do is hope that they listen and give us what Forever failed to deliver. Not to digress too much, but I still really think that album title and cover are horrendous. The only sensical part in hindsight for me, is that we've been waiting FOREVER for the unreleased tracks from that era. Maybe it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. :teresa:

One more week to go until Wannabe 25...

 

Eager to know when they'll announce Spice 25. Little Mix have put their Greatest Hits album formats up for pre-order and that's coming out on November 12th. Spice's anniversary is November 4th, which would suggest November 5th... hope they don't leave it too long.

Here comes the battle of all battles: Spice Girls vs. Little Mix. Who will win?
