So ABBA is giving their fans a brand new album. Maybe this will wake up a few of the girls to want to make a 4th album. Fingers crossed!

Not offense for the girls, but ABBA are doing something amazing. The boys are great musicians, composers and songwriters and the girls great singers and songwriters. They’re doing something live that’s going to change live music forever.

Again, love the Spice Girls, but a new album won’t ever be at the same level of ABBA.

I’m sure some of them they would agree with that.

Hello, new here from NYC! So excited to have preordered the album! I actually just recently fell in love with them so what a great time for me.

I'm always intrigued what new fans make of them?

As for ABBA they had to include new music let's be honest. It would be a hard sell to reunite for a hologram tour with nothing new and you not actually seeing the act live. Might as well save money and watch YouTube videos. I'm not saying Spice Girls couldn't or shouldn't release new music but I don't see how the ABBA 'reunion' could have worked without new music to garner some excitement.

ABBA waited 40 years , there is time lol !!

Welcome 🤗

Even with CDs now, it's hard to find devices now that can play them.

Optical drives are being phased out of notebook computers and new and used cars.

Of course vinyl records and cassettes are obsolete.

Though a few retailers surprisingly now stock and sell record and cassette players.

There should be an option for digital audio file/MP3 and JPEG photos to download.

All of those formats sell well currently, with CDs still being the main selling points. You'd be surprised. Yes, they will eventually be phased out completely or become just fan-items rather than general public, but they are reaching a sort of a balance.

The main thing about CDs is that they are very hard to recycle so they are awful for the climate and continuous waste. Vinyl is easier to recycle so they are seen as more healthy option at the moment. Same with cassettes. But yeah, they are all currently more like fan-service, topped up with streaming.

The CD is also being released on streaming by the way (check Jay's first post for a link)

In the UK at least it’s easy (and cheap) to find new CD players from the likes of Amazon, Currys, Argos etc., and most places are selling vinyl players too. I’ve not seen any cassette players (not that I’ve looked) - they seem to be just a disposable ‘collectors’ item for the stans to inflate chart sales.

My vinyl player has radio, cd and cassette player built in. It's a beautiful ornate wooden box.

That was me actually typing in my card details for some Jimmy Choo's the other day and still feeling bitterly guilty... so bad I got some Louboutins too to make myself feel better

Surely a fan will upload the unreleased song: 'Shall We Say Goodbye Then?' to You Tube or Google, once the 25th anniversary double album is released on October 29.

Without new music, photos, postcards/writing for 25, or 40/45 like ABBA, performers seem to be limited to what they can create for a new product. Other than computer generated video or visual effects, such as: animation, holograms, or avatars.

No surprise, that if any new songs were produced in future, that the topic and content sung by singers aged in their 40s/middle age (about generativity and legacy), would be different to that of singers in their 20s (about intimacy).

There'll be official audio uploads for all of them on YouTube!
