The battle at the bottom is certainly looking lively at the moment, it's very close between a number of teams. Burnley have so many games in hand that it could dramatically change how the table looks if they have a good run of results in those matches. Newcastle definitely needed that win today otherwise they would have been in more significant danger having played more games than most of the teams around them. Brentford could get dragged into it if their poor recent form continues.
That penalty for Liverpool there was a ridiculous decision, the ref goes over to the screen and they only show the coming together and not the overall picture.

Yeah tough one, I think it was really lucky and that's from a biased Liverpool fan. I think the thing is that Jota probably gets to the ball if the keeper doesn't take him out to play it back across and the keeper got nowhere near the ball. Either way, I'll take that luck as we're going to need a hell of a lot of it. Big win that and fingers crossed at least one of Mane/Salah is back for the next league game.

Good to see Chelsea winning again. Ziyech's goal was superb.

Yeh we played as well as I’ve seen us this season in the first 35 mins then they played balls in behind our defence who are fascinated with playing offsides. Probably tired after Thursday night too!

The trajectory of Jotas run for the pen showed he was looking it, wouldn’t want that against us!

The high line is fine, we play offside very well and our high line creates so many opportunties for us. Problem was Van Dijk just didn't see the runner - it happens. We definitely got leggy, our physiciality noticeably dropped off too, but for some reason Klopp has a group of 14-15 players who he always plays in league games unless absolutely necessary.

Mad thing about the penalty Jota got today is he got that one, but we didn't get the one where the player literally pushed him over as he was about to shoot :D

Lovely finish!

Claudio Ranieri has been sacked by Watford after less than four months in charge. I think this might have sealed their fate as far as relegation goes but we'll see by the end of the season what happens. I wont miss them if they get relegated and I wasn't thrilled to see them back in the Premier League either.

Shame to see with Ranieri given his reign at Fulham and Watford following on from that Leicester City title winning run in 2016.

It's odd in that he's actually done pretty well in Italy between these PL stints, but that's three successive seasons here where the bit he's been in charge for been an absolute disaster.

There's enough talent in that Watford squad that they can stay up but it's anyones game and you'd probably make Newcastle the favourites, although they've done less business than I thought so far you'd expect another 2-3 in in the last week.

The least surprising sacking of the season, surprised they didn't do it straight after the match in all honesty!

Watford do have a decent squad yes, they absolutely slapped us earlier in the season.

Nigel Pearson to return again?

This came up in Early Kick Off and also in a transfer show where Roy Hodgson was the guest. I too thought he had retired and was surprised to hear him say "if the right opportunity came along". The two guests on Early Kick Off also indicated that the love of football is in them and they always come back. Also indicated the same about Ranieri. I wonder when Neil Warnock will reappear to cheer the referees on?

Why would any manager choose to go to Watford, they have the biggest plughole of managers appointed than any other club in recent memory and it beggars belief that a manager could think that would be the right choice for them to take then club forward when all they are destined for is relegation…

On a side note… would anyone say that this season has been the busiest for managerial sackings ever? Names that come to mind already this season are Dean Smith, Steve Bruce, Rafael Benítez, Xisco Muñoz, Claudio Ranieri, Daniel Farke, Nuno Espírito Santo and of course Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That’s 8 in one season! :o

Hodgson is London based, knows it will be short term and will get a massive payout regardless of what happens. Easy money for him.

I'm sure somewhere between 2016-2018 there was a load of sackings, but absoulutely there's been a fair few this year.

Yeah absolutely, no way he can lose from this. Guaranteed pay-off and it's hardly gonna cause a blot on his CV if when it all goes to pot.

The many sackings this year is just making up for the relative few last season imo.
