June 30, 20214 yr Aren't Thursday streams calculated using an algorithm? So even if we did lose on Wednesday and no one streamed 3 Lions on Thursday, the OCC would still use an average of the weeks streams to calculate a (rather unrealistic) number for Thursday. I'm not sure but I remember this being mentioned a fair bit when Mariah kept missing out. I am not sure that anyone knows the specifics of what the OCC do with Thursday streams. It's worth noting that they do (presumably) get Thursday streaming numbers from Amazon at least, as well as other smaller services - wouldn't surprise me if they extrapolate streams from Spotify/Apple/YouTube based on the trends from the services that do report on time? Yes, the rules do seem to allow them to make assumptions about trends. That means, for example, that they can assume that streaming of Christmas songs will have slumped if the Thursday is 27 December. They can, therefore, do the same with 3 Lions if England lose on Wednesday (assuming they get that far). Whether they use any streaming data they do have available to influence their calculations, I don't know but it would make sense for them to do so.
June 30, 20214 yr ^not the same They have all the data on past Xmas weeks so they know the pattern but they don't know it for football songs, so not sure how they can predict the data
June 30, 20214 yr With sales that aren't anywhere near what the label predicted... which was the point of Joel's post... I think it would be hard to get to number one with every brand new return on 250k sales like he was always going to drop down a level at some stage but again he’s still number one and currently ahead by like 10k chart sales.
June 30, 20214 yr If they win it on Sunday the 11th then it’s surely gonna hit the top spot following that 😀, then if football does come home will that be the song redundant? Ha! It’s true, we’d definitely need a new song for the next major tournament.
June 30, 20214 yr Maybe. If England win on Saturday, the semi-final is on Wednesday evening. If England lose that semi-final, it could depend on whether the OCC assume that 3 Lions' streams on Thursday will be almost zero or not. I think the 2-0 against Germany has really picked up momentum for the tournament which was flagging before, most people assumed we would be out last night. If we win Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised to see Three Lions as a midweek #1 but all of this depends on England's performance of course.

No ones saying anything about 250k sales but to debut on Spotify well below Olivia’s 4/5th week on 560k streams is poor by Ed’s standards. The fact they produced 5k of each of the CD singles and have sold 1.6k should tell you enough. My point was the label / ED will be disappointed to be doing not even half of his usual debuts with big single releases. Let’s not forget the fact he’s been placed #1 across all big streaming platforms biggest playlists too. Edited June 30, 20214 yr by Mr. C. Joel
June 30, 20214 yr at the end of the day, this is the lead from Minus/Substract, so of course it was gonna do less hahaha :D

Yeh I get your point and it’s exactly correct but he is still number one and most likely will be on Friday so he will be happy with that I would say. Guess it depends on whether it continues to dominate in telnet way ‘Afterglow’ for example didn’t.
June 30, 20214 yr I think bad habits will be around for a long time, i think it will have a long chart run, the song just has that feel about it, number 1 debuts are hard these days and this is certain to be another number 1 for ed on Friday, his albums are also benefiting from this release which is also something he will be happy with.

Actually it's not that hard and many have achieved #1 without the desperate shenanigans that Ed is doing... Rain on Me, No Time to Die, Godzilla, Positions, Drivers License, Montero, all debuted at #1 and most of those barely had any playlist support on Spotify and obv Bad Habits will have along chart run, his deals and pay checks sent to Spotify will ensure that lol :D
June 30, 20214 yr ^not the same They have all the data on past Xmas weeks so they know the pattern but they don't know it for football songs, so not sure how they can predict the data If they have data from some streaming sites then they can assume the trend on the other sites will be the same. Ultimately, the rules don't stop them assuming streams will plummet to almost zero after England go out. They will, of course, have the relevant data from 2018.

June 30, 20214 yr Ed may be ahead of Olivia in daily stream numbers now? He is #1 on both Apple and Amazon (edit: well #2 on Amazon now actually because 'Three Lions', but still, ahead of Olivia x) and has closed the gap a lot on Spotify (and I'd presume he's doing better on YouTube too). Of course he's still way ahead on downloads too but no longer sure that he's only going to be #1 because of that, he had a very underwhelming start on streaming but has been making gains throughout the week. (Yes, it's been helped by Hot Hits, yada yada) The gap between Tyler and Doja seems to have barely changed since yesterday, really rooting for Tyler to hang onto that #3 spot.
June 30, 20214 yr Really hope you right can hold onto that top 10! Do we know what’s at #11 and how far behind it is?
June 30, 20214 yr Oh my someone tell Desperate Ed hes safe for this week And save those cds for week 2 lol
June 30, 20214 yr I'm sure the website exclusive stuff is also aimed at securing as high a debut as possible in the US (where he's currently projected to debut at #5 according to Talk of the Charts). This new download is for a 'voice note acoustic version' whatever that means lol ~
June 30, 20214 yr Was just thinking, when they get to ‘ain’t shit’ on the chart show on Friday how will Scott announce it, is there a clean title for it, similar to ‘build a babe’? 😂 and assume he will skip it as surely there isn’t a clean version?
