October 31, 20213 yr My 29 and 30 pointers are in the top 10 and I think I voted for 6 of them. A great result so far!
October 31, 20213 yr personally the top 10 would be 43867134671234876 better if Sinead and Vogue replaced Viva Forever and Cher :D
October 31, 20213 yr I don’t think there’s a late 90s bias - we had a quarter of the top 12 from 1990! I'll just split them into 90-94 and 95-99  top 10: 2/8 top 20: 7/13 top 30: 8/22 top 40: 12/28 top 50: 14/36 There were more to vote for in the second half, so it's not entirely surprising but the 20 is just the top end of the early 90's classics, there are only 2 to go in the top 10. Most people rate their teen years as the Best Time For Music Ever, especially 13 to 16 years old as they get older, so there's always a natural bias according to age of voters anyway. During the 90's I thought 1990 was pretty good and 1999 was pretty subpar over-all, but that's not necessarily always reflected in the chart-toppers usually - but 1990 def got it right, so I'd have been surprised if that hadn't done very well. 1991, not so much....!
October 31, 20213 yr 1990 was definitely one of the better years, where as the rest of 91-94 had quite a few questionable chart toppers. For me there is early 90s, mid 90s (Brit pop sort of era) and late 90s, that’s probably why it feels much more even to me
October 31, 20213 yr Author NO 10- 272 POINTS Brimful Of Asha Cornershop (Voter: Dot Branning- 24 points, Rabbitfurcoat- 20 points, Mango- 18 points, Jimwatts- 28 points, Jade- 4 points, Jason- 12 points, Chrissmith276- 29 points, DarrenJ77- 26 points, Shoat- 29 points, King Rollo- 5 points, Dan::G- 15 points, Colm- 20 points, *Dandy- 29 points, Jester- 5 points, Dircadirca- 8 points)- #1 for 1 week in February 1998 Brief moment of fame for Cornershop who can thank Fatboy Slim for turning this into a chart topper and in the top 3 of four voters! October 31, 20213 yr not a bad song, but doesn't deserve top 10 imho in perspective, I should have given it some votes, but should be around top 20-30, not top 10
October 31, 20213 yr Honestly I probably should've given it more points. As a neurodivergent I don't think there's another #1 hit (and how apt!) that better captures the joy and especially comfort in indulging the love of music as a special interest. Maybe "Come On Eileen" is a close second.
October 31, 20213 yr I hope Viva Forever will be the last one standing. Edited October 31, 20213 yr by JackJones
October 31, 20213 yr Brimful Of Asha in the top 10 is a fantastic and just result. I'd be happy with any of the remaining tracks winning, with the exception of Britney which I've always found incredibly meh. Max Martin produced better tracks in that era, but none of them had schoolgirl outfits sadly.
October 31, 20213 yr Great start to the top 10! I can't remember how many of them I voted for - possibly 7?
October 31, 20213 yr Brimful Of Asha is a perfect example of a song that makes me happy. Infectious rhythm and very interesting vocals. It really deserves to be top 10 here. :D
October 31, 20213 yr I love that track! So deserving of a top 10 place, it never fails to make me smile and it’s pretty cool to boot
October 31, 20213 yr Great to see 7 I voted for made the top 10. Brimful Of Asha (the remix) is one of the earliest singles I bought on its first week. The original was on it too and also classic in its own right.
November 1, 20213 yr I wonder if that means a certain group isn’t going to live forever on this countdown after all…

November 1, 20213 yr Oh well... it's a beautiful song that's got absolutely nothing to do with recreational drug use and everything to do with losing a loved one. As great as Bittersweet Symphony is, I always preferred this one.
November 1, 20213 yr The Drugs Don't Work is one of those rare kind of songs that I only actually listen to at certain times because it inspires strong emotions to me. I find it such a powerful portrayal of losing a loved one. Delighted it made the Top 10.
