I also like Maybe a lot but wonder if that’s a risky choice. I guess LMU is probably a risky choice too. It’s hard to know with solo Spice Girls tracks.

A lot of the other forums are definitely not going to be able to avoid picking a “lesser” single from their artist discographies because they’re bound to have sent all their strongest and best received songs already.

For Spice Girls that’s certainly the case with the group singles, but we definitely still have good options for the solo songs…

Melanie C - When You’re Gone being the biggest selling hit left makes it a tempting choice. In a solo singles rate from 2017 it placed 6th. In the Spice Rate from 2019 it came 15th but that included group singles - just counting solo, it was also 6th place.

The songs that did better than When You’re Gone in those 2 rates:

What I Am, Lift Me Up, Out of Your Mind, Too Much… would be shocked if any of these did well tbh! :o

Lift Me Up didn’t do well in either rate btw, 55th in 2019 Spice Rate which worked out as the 42nd highest solo song(!), in 2017 it did relatively better, 22nd, still not too great though… I’m wary to go with that one. Sometimes people accuse Too Much of being boring. Out of Your Mind got SO much hate in the charts forum last year when it was in a poll against Spiller - If This Is Love lol, so I have no confidence in sending that. What I Am is fairly middle of the road, not sure what people would think of it.

On paper Maybe seems like the strongest option considering it did the best in 2017 and was only behind I Turn to You and NBTSA in 2019. Then again, who knows what the non-fan/casual fans would make of it. Kind of leads me back to When You’re Gone seeming like a good choice.

I didn’t realise we hadn’t sent when you’re gone yet! Now I’m leaning towards that over maybe it’s definitely the most popular solo song with the general public so maybe that will translate well.

To be honest, I had a feeling Lift Me Up was a personal thing and probs wouldn’t do well universally. Surprised that Maybe did so well in a past rate - that’s good to see cause it’s an awesome song and maybe a good choice in a future round.

Completely forgot it existed but I love When You’re Gone. I think it’s a good choice.

Is When You’re Gone really the worst for you from those choices?? :o

It’s so huge and generally seems well liked… I feel like it has a better shot with the forum at large than Maybe does? :( It would really hurt my heart to see that one fail. WTYSL in 14th was bad enough! There’s still forthcoming rounds we could send Maybe in though. Perhaps if by Round 5 it looks as though we’re unlikely to progress, we could go out on a high with Maybe. We’ll see how it goes!
