I actually don't mind the song, I can see it being quite successful tbh. It's already doing better on Apple Music than I expected so maybe it could be a top 10 debut after all in the UK! The spotify figures will be interesting tomorrow.

The video is massively cringe though, it's got a good budget behind it and is primarily focused on the USA audience.

The MNEK shade though!

I wanted to like her solo but this isn't my cup of tea whatsoever.

Good luck though and I love how she sounds vocally.

This is really terrible everything about it. The song, the image, her voice it's all horrendously bad.

This is so good, way better than what i was expecting!!

What a debut and to have two big wigs supporting you is stellar!!

Deserves to be huge WW!!

#1 trending video on YouTube with over 700,000 in 6 hours & doing really well on iTunes. I can see this being a hit for her.

I am curious to see what her original material will be like because thus samples so heavily it's basically a cover.

I hope she uses her voice because when I hear SLS I remember she can belt the big notes and not just this strange cartoon voice she adopted on the last couple of albums.

I can’t believe people are so openly dismissing the blatant cultural appropriation going on in this video?

There are so many black female artists struggling to get anything off the ground yet we have a white girl dressing up as one getting a pretty much instant hit. It’s really sad to see.

Honestly it's always been a problem on this forum, people get more triggered/offended by being accused of racism than the actual act of racism itself. You only have to look in the Cheryl thread last month to see, embarrazing.

Number 1 on iTunes in 6 countries and a few hundred copies from being Number 1 on iTunes in the US.

Got to give props to Jesy's team and Jesy and Harry did great directing the video!

Wow to me the song just gets better and better :cheeseblock: Love everything about the video too.

Jesy's really happy about its iTunes position

I do like the song.

I do think as I've said from the off the whole thing has been incredibly calculated on Jesy's part to get the 'first one to go solo' boost.

I am somewhat baffled at how big the budget/investment is. And I do think she is definitely HARD blackfishing.

as a black man, he is perfectly fine to be "shady" towards her over it lol - we also have no idea what was said behind the scenes (although I do happen to know that there were conversations about it behind the scenes) but it's a sorta known fact that MNEK isn't Jesy's biggest fan due to this.

He had to work with them because he was on a label and would've been told to - but he also has a genuine friendship with Trio Mix so I can imagine he put whatever beef aside so he could create good music w/them.

The "how do we know he hasn't?" argument works both ways... how do we know he has? etc.

Judging by personal experience with Uzo and the direction of these indirect tweets, I would say it's highly unlikely he uttered the words 'blackfishing' to Jesy.

As for the label thing, I'm not sure on the label politics... but MNEK is with EMI and Little Mix are with Sony and the acquisition deal of Sony buying 60% of EMI didn't come in until 2018 and 'Touch' was produced before then, as would 'Told You So' (as the aquisition deal came in around the time the album LM5 came out) therefore they chose to work with MNEK and him them... not a forced record label deal. Now Jesy's love of tan has been prevelent since before 'Touch'.

I want to like this more than I do but it is a bop! It just relies so heavily on the sample that instead of feeling 90s inspired but brought into the present day, it does ultimately feel a bit dated. But by nature of its sample being strong, it also super catchy. It doesn’t sound like the sort of thing that’d be a hit in the current age but I wouldn’t be mad!
This is absolutely terrible. Jesy sis, you have so much potential and you come out with this song and this cultural appropriated video? Do better

he's under no obligation to educate a white person on blackfishing when a LOT of people have tried to speak with her and she's just blocked them and accused them of trolling, obviously she has been trolled hard in the past, but she needs to learn to differentiate between the two.

they've worked together since Salute, and they're obviously all friends - I remember being told he started to not be so fond of her when she posted that picture with the dreads.

Leigh-Anne has put an insta story up which is very fitting for today.

This is an absolute REACH. Thing is we don't know what happened behind the scenes and MNEK has freedom of speech and to call out something he doesn't agree with.

Just because he worked with someone previously or was even friends with them, doesn't stop him being able to say how he feels.

WTF is with her voice in the verses?! Literally can't tell 90% of what she's singing... :\ Before I'd heard anything about 'Boyz' I was expecting some moody R&B inspired music from her. Not expecting something that would fit Little Mix in 2019 as a follow up to 'Bounce Back'.

The cultural appropriation in the video is a HUGE facepalm moment. It's at the point now that if she was to ever apologise for the blackfishing/cultural appropriation I think it'd be hard for her to come across as sincere. It's really sad to see.

I really like Nicki's feature on this though. She's always been one of my fave rappers, but I find it incredibly difficult to support anything she's attached to nowadays due to her being such a horrendous human being. One of my fave rappers but ughhhhhh... I wish she was a better human </3

But yeah. I won't be going back to this, but one thing I will say about the LM girls regardless of who it is... they are 100% going to PERFORM THE SHIT out of it.
