September 14, 20215 yr The biggest fight between Steps and Manic Street Preachers since the latter were accused of ripping off “Stomp” - Jz2gvAApY2A
September 14, 20215 yr Why is Kacey’s new album being shown as a re-entry even though it’s new? Edited September 14, 20215 yr by daniellovesmusic
September 14, 20215 yr Saw an article today that said it’s been 23 years since The Manics beat Steps to number one - so this is a rematch
September 14, 20215 yr Saint Etienne actually climbing from yesterday :o I certainly wasn't expecting that! It's shaping up to be an exciting Steps v Manics battle :D don't think I can call the winner at this stage.
September 14, 20215 yr It is very hard to call who will be the Number 1 album in Friday. I would greatly welcome Steps to win it.
September 14, 20215 yr also a bit  at Central Cee doing so well? Where's the hype or mainstream push for this? I don't get it LOL. Some kids just have shit music taste I guess
September 15, 20215 yr both labels are playing it smart, Steps label are adding more formats and signed stuff the Manics label are linking it to tour dates nice to see St Etienne climbing in the mids, that was unexpected... they've never been massive album sellers so it's nice they're looking at another top 40

September 15, 20215 yr Why is Kacey’s new album being shown as a re-entry even though it’s new? Typo, very easily done when I type this stuff out after a tiring work day
September 15, 20215 yr Plus with how they also kept 'One For Sorrow' off #1, the Manics must be their arch nemesis! Oh wow I didn't realise 'If You Tolerate This' was out the same week as 'One For Sorrow', the Manics and Steps obviously have a history of chart battles!
September 15, 20215 yr Thank god for the album chart to give us something unpredictable to concentrate on while the single chart domination of Ed Sheeran continues.

Mine just turned up yesterday so presumably pre-order sales for that were only added on Monday.
September 15, 20215 yr but that old chart battle between MSP and Steps, wasn't a proper chart battle, didn't MSP win by like 100K? or m I remembering it wrong?
September 15, 20215 yr Apparently it was just 6k difference, according to Jay's thread here: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=245136 Manics stayed ahead the following week when they fell to 5 and 6, but after that Steps were ahead and hung around way longer at the top end of the charts.
September 15, 20215 yr I think they had an ALBUMS battle where the MSPs were absolutely miles ahead (as Bjork states) The singles battle was presumably much closer
September 15, 20215 yr Ah, makes sense. Both This Is My Truth and Step One were released the same week too and charted at 1 and 2, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if the former obliterated the latter by 100k. I'd so love for Steps to get it this week, but I'm not so sure there's much juice left in the tank...most huge fans have probably bought three formats at least by now!
