Pleasing to see Rolling In The Deep here highest by quite a bit, it's the only song of hers I'd have any real interest in listening to. Good to have 12 of the top 20 being songs I voted for.

I'll be rooting for something which isn't Chandelier to win, from memory it usually finishes really high but it's the song left that I like the least by quite a considerable distance.

Into You, number one candidate, not even on the top 20 is a big shock.

My top 5 predictions now are Daft Punk, Lana, M83, Weeknd, and Gotye

Yikes poor 'Into You' :( I guess the voting pool has really shifted this year with 'We Found Love' crashing down too.

I think my favourite five remaining are: 'no tears left to cry', 'Somebody That I Used To Know', 'Do I Wanna Know?', 'Blind Faith' and 'Physical'.

Kicking off the top 20 is Justin Timberlake with ‘Mirrors which climbs 144 places and into the top 20 for the first time. The song dropped to its lowest ever position last year and hadn’t been in the final for 3 years running. This year however that was all different as ‘Mirrors’ gained an automatic place in the final round by finishing in 5th place in the 2013 heat and manages to climb to an all-time high position. In terms of 2013 songs, ‘Mirrors finishes 4th overall for 2013 behind ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, ‘Get Lucky’ and ‘Pompeii. Whilst ‘Mirrors’ scored the same amount of points as ‘The Mother We Share’, it gained 5 more votes to secure its top 20 position. 'Mirrors' is the last song to climb into the top 100, the songs remaining now either made the final last year or are new entries completely.

Meanwhile at 19 another of last years ROTD top 10 bites the dust as ‘Chandelier’ drops 9 places, however it does manages to keep a top 20 position. 'Chandelier' reached an all-time high position last year by reaching the top 10 for the first time after taking 3 big drops. The song finished in 2nd place in its heat and remains in 2nd place for 2014 songs behind ‘Crying for no Reason’. It should be said however that ‘Chandelier’ was one of only 7 songs to gain 20 or more votes. In fact only 3 songs gained more than 20 votes and even 1 song which finished in the top 5 didn’t even amass 20 votes (but I guess more on that later), its just ‘Chandelier’ didn’t really luck out on the high positions otherwise it wouldn’t have dropped out of the top 10.

Ouch a few shockers re: Into You & We Found Love :o

From what's left I'm thinking Physical could win, or maybe Green Light? I guess nothing can truly be ruled out at this rate though

Hooray for Flesh Without Blood managing a big climb + a new peak!

Love Mirrors, and Chandelier is class. Both worthy top 20 finishers imo.

Oops, I clearly missed this thread throughout the week, belatedly extremely happy to see Young Blood finally get all the way to the final (should've been way before it's last year but at least it goes out on a high x), we seem to be much more forgiving of the big radio hits this year with Take Me to Church, We Are Young and Uptown Funk doing so much better! Quite a few of my big favourites went before the top 20, but this final was so good that it's still a generally great set of songs.

Can't believe We Found Love, Into You and Run Away With Me are all that low, I really thought the former could win it in particular. I genuinely have no idea what's gonna win now which makes it all the more interesting obviously!

Great finish by Mirrors. Well-deserved!

Another faller from last years top five now we have Rita Ora at #18. Rita has the second-biggest song of 2017 here with Lorde still in the running however it lost a fair bit of support this year. I do think the song has aged well but it isn't quite absolute best of the decade material so top 20 is still a respectable finish especially with the changing voter base and surprise top 20 exits of Into You/We Found Love. It really should be Lonely Together in this position however Anywhere is my personal fave of her material as a leading performer.

Meanwhile Swedish House Mafia hold their place in the top 20, the fourth time they are this high for Don't You Worry Child which is brilliant to see. Given the huge disappointment of their comeback material it is unlikely we'll ever see them here again after next year so hopefully we can push them into the top 10 on their final attempt. It has done very well considering its performance in the yearly round (it is the highest ranked song that didn't AQ to the final), and after having won its semi-final it is now the second-highest song from 2012 in the final. It is also the fourth-highest ranked EDM song with entries from Alan Walker, Chase & Status and Daft Punk still to come.

More shocks next as we lose 2 more of last years top 10 and it means the whole of last years top 5 is now out of the running. At 16 ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ drops 12 places to reach an all-time low position, in its first two years of being eligible the song placed 3rd and 4th. The last few years has seen Ariana Grande being very dominant within the top 10 and she seemed always on the brink of winning, but never quite being able to do so. This year however she seems to have majorly under-performed – even in the yearly heats/ semi’s, the number of her songs which qualified for the final has dropped quite considerably down to just 4. ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ is Ariana’s highest placed song, however like ‘Into You’ drops down to an all-time low position. This year a lot of the more mainstream pop acts which Buzzjack usually seems to champion have taken a number of hits; Ariana, Katy Perry and even Lady Gaga has seen a number of her songs fall to lows, with even Little Mix being hit too – down to just 2 songs in the final. Despite this drop, ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ is the highest placed song from 2018 – it will be interesting to see if it can recover next year, or if it drops further.

Meanwhile at 15, M83 drops 6 places and misses out on a top 10 position in its final year. The song has been stuck In 9th place for the last 2 years and after topping the 2011 vote, I was expecting it to reach a new high on its last year. In terms of voting numbers, ‘Midnight City’ only gained 15 votes which is the 2nd lowest of the top 15 (one song still to come gained just 13 votes) – this is really what hindered it from maintaining its top 10 position. This is such a great song, even after all these years and its good to see it still being top 15 in its final year. The song initially debuted in the top 15, however over the years took some sharp declines until it reached 251st place. In 2019 however it surged back up and to reach the top 10 for the first time, there it remained last year as a non-mover. Whilst ‘Midnight City’ topped the 2011 vote, in terms of 2011 songs in the final it comes in 3rd behind ‘Video Games’ and ‘Blind Faith’.

Aww, I reckoned that with other results, there had been more voters for Midnight City than that, in which case it might well have challenged.

and wut with 'no tears left to cry' leaving, what has actually done well? I don't think we've ever had a complete upend like this - slightly less votes for the final than normal but still. Very interesting set of results.

Again, another unexpected results.

Good to see SHM being consistent here, despite their huge disappointment comeback this year.

I feel like the winner this year could well be a new entry. Physical has the more vocal support on Buzzjack but I do wonder if Blinding Lights may have a greater silent support.

Did half of Ariana's fans boycott this year? :drama:

Mind I'm assuming she is meant to be #15 since that position has just been left blank oddly
