I get this but I don’t get why the people accusing her, Leigh and her sister aren’t showing this same energy to people they are friends with, for instance Gabrielle, Leigh-Anne’s friend and business partner who is overly tanned and wears wigs too. I think apply the same rules to everyone and not pick and choose who you have an issue with based on whether you get on or not. They’ve literally been liking her very recent pictures where she is darker than them ‘blackfishing’ but there’s no issue with them?

 

I’d be more supportive of Leigh if she was being like this with everyone who was ‘blackfishing’, it just isn’t making sense for me and seems hypocritical. I’m a POC and if I truly believed Jesy was blackfishing, I’d look at that Gabrielle and clearly think the same…so I’d treat them the same.

It’s very different to Jesy. She’s actively making a living being someone she’s not. And she’s been called up on it before and is continuing to do nothing about it.

So someone on their stylist team is on Twitter saying the girls didn't know she was leaving and Jesy blocked them on Whatsapp and had a go at them and didn't congratulate them on their pregnancies etc. It's all spilling out now.

This is where it gets confusing cause didn’t we here another story that the girls spoke to Jesy’s mum personally and said that Jesy needs to leave for her own mental health and well being ? Also Jesy said she’s sent a few texts to the girls hinting that she messaged either when Leigh/Perrie pregnant or just given birth .

Agreed. Blackfishing is far more than just being a darker, unnatural shade in your tan.. that's just a part of the problem. Jesy's main problem is that she is continuing to culturally appropriate and profit off of it when many of her black peers are struggling, all whilst she is absolutely aware that she's doing it and not doing anything about it... it's really disheartening to see on her end. I get that it's still a relatively new topic in popular culture and that SO many of us are still learning about it, but to have ZERO remorse or own up to any accountability for it... that's just not a good look at all, imo. I just think it's AWFUL that she's clearly aware of it and is actively choosing to be ignorant and not doing anything to change it.

 

The biggest alarm bells for me was some point late last year, I saw VARIOUS comments on Twitter saying they didn't realise Jesy was caucasian... that is a huge issue with it all imo... if people can't tell what race you are or think you're an entirely different race or ethnicity... that's a problem (and yes, this was whilst she was still in Little Mix).

 

Also in regards to the girls themselves, I'd rather not listen to anything from anyone other than the girls themselves tbh. THAT'S where a lot of the problems lie, in regards to that. All ends up being hearsay and "she said, he said".

I know there are tweets from their nails girl basically saying she unblocked Perrie and Leigh, sent congratulatory messages that were purportedly not heartfelt and blocked them again. I don't know whether that's true or not either.

It will take a while to find out what really happened, but I think from connecting the dots that it was neither smooth nor amicable.

I agree, some criticising her are still angry she left. But that's humans - motives/intentions differ. When she was in the band, there were three other girls to divert attention away from her blackfishing. And as said before, people are also educating themselves more.

Nicki Minaj is going live with Jesy at 8pm and it seems they will be addressing a few things.

Honestly it can all be true to some extent - Jesy goes to the managers/record label to sort out her contracts and "leaves" behind their backs, she doesn't want to deal with them so she blocks them, which makes them call her mother because they can't get a hold of her and are wondering what the hell is going on. A few months later, she unblocks them briefly to send obligatory congratulations on their pregnancies and they of course just becomes more miffed.

 

In all honesty, following groups - particularly girl groups - this seems pretty bog standard arguments that happen. I think most people understood that it wasn't just happy smiles when a member leaves a group just as they're about to launch their sixth album, so I guess it was bound to blow up at some point down the road. I'm sure it'll make a great segment in the reunion documentary 10-15 years down the road though.

If you dm leigh anne anything - it shows up with a blue tick in your messages, these messages from whateverhun is called had no blue tick, all of Jesy's team have spoke out on it calling Leigh Anne a bully which is ridic, if Jesy knew nothing of it, she could have reached out and made a statement / got her team to delete it but she's done the opposite while preaching about mental health day.

But this wasn’t an ploy by this influencer, as someone who watched the live it was literally his off the cuff response to the people in his comments dragging him for supporting Jesy. it isn’t that he started the live to come for Leigh specifically.
