Hasn’t the law been changed this season so that effectively it’s only disallowed if the goal scorer handballs it otherwise if it’s accidental a free kick is not awarded.

Apparently so. Once again, it's not the referee who is at fault. He is merely applying the laws of the game, however ridiculous they may be. The player's hand moved down towards the ball and knocked it to the ground. That surely is a blatant handball, but the people in charge of making the laws of the game disagree.

Completely ridiculous. How can they determine what constitues accidental. I preferred last season where any handball in the build up discounted the goal. That was fine it was only the rule where accidental handball from a defender meant a penalty (think Eric Dier vs Newcastle) that needed changing.

Still should have won this match by now yes but its the precedent for the future that means this scenario is absurd.

Yes probably which does kind of contradict my last post but it would have been given because of the "unnatural position" wording. That only seems to apply to defenders...

That just makes it even more ridiculous. Even before the "unnatural position" rule came into being, a player whose arms were placed as if he was trying to fly would expect to concede a handball if his hand touched the ball unless it was hit towards him from a foot or so.

United really hate pens eh.

Shouldn’t have gone to pens but when the FA manipulates shit for the drama 🙄

A big scalp was on the cards there tonight but Boro fought back well in the end!

Rode their luck and waited for United to become gassed. Ronaldo's gonna be gutted he won't win the FA Cup this season!

Yeh they can complain about the handball all they want but they were playing Middlesborough at home ffs they should beat them and didn’t take their chances so they deserved to go out.
I guess we have Chelsea or Manchester City winning this competition to look forward to then. What joy!
I guess United fans can now feel what Chelsea felt during that match against Leicester.

After today, it has to be a Chelsea v West Ham final.

It may well happen! Poor Kidderminster though, that is the cruellest way to lose a match but they should be really proud of themselves.

It was just unbelievably cruel. The late equaliser was bad enough, but the timing of the winning goal was beyond cruel. Kidderminster played really well and were a great advert for non-league football.
