I guess you can look at it in different ways. Her back catalogue is holding up incredibly well and she seems to be finding a whole new audience with it. There’s no doubting her incredible popularity. And from 2.8 million day one on Spotify there’s always going to be quite a fall. I would just have expected to see a gentler drop-off for this specific song going into week 2 if people really loved it (rather than just loving her).

A Number 1 single and album for Elton John I would welcome, it feels fitting and gives hope to others artists that it's still possible to have a hit single.

Wouldn’t say she is flopping, but I do think sales have been way over-predicted.

Of course her sales would drop, but that doesn't just apply to her, no one sells what they would sell 5 years ago and that will only get worse as streaming takes over the industry, but even if her sales drop, she will outsell everyone else.

It’s hardly a flop. Its sold more copies in its first week than any other single in quite a while. It’s just not continuing to sell at the rate many people were expecting and a lot of it is hype anyway.

She is only down by 3% on Spotify for yesterday so maybe now beginning to stabilise.

I think it was more because it was championed by Scott Mills although my memory of it is slightly hazy so I could be wrong!

Uff Adeld is flopping a bit, just like mer and Brer said! The song is ... okay, but hardly a cultural event, and I don't go back to it much. It will hopefully stay no.1 for a couple more weeks, but...
